COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Probably the best thing going in the Unibroue line. Brownish in color with the traditional Unibroue high carbonation. Nice spicey flavor with nice bitter fiish.

Ruby red pour with a soapy head that starts big but quickly diminishes. All kinds of spice in the aroma. Well carbonated over the tongue, easy drinking. No hint of alcohol. Very good stuff.

Really outstanding beer. Similar to a weiss, or maybe even a weissbock. I suprisingly really enjoyed it. The palate was full, the spices are well noticed but not overpowering, and no overwhelming fruit presence. One of a kind.

Excellent stuff--highly carbonated, but I didn't mind (too much). Nice head. Lots of malt and a sweet taste that isn't cloying. The alcohol is rather well hidden.

Spice and apple in the aroma. Nice white head, good carbonation, appearance looks a lot like cloudy apple juice. Malty, spicy, and a hint of fruitiness in the flavor. ABV is not noticeable.

Orangey-amber-brown in colour. Hints of citrus in the flavour. Beautiful long aftertaste. Can’t wait to have another.

A good brew with a cool label. This tastes similar to their Don De Dieu but is darker in appearance and a bit lighter in alcohol.

Orange - Brown in color. Large creamy head. Significant effervescense and a great aroma. Spicy and fruity. A good balance of hopps and malt. Noticable alcohol in the aftertaste. A good solid representation of a Belgian Strong.
