Eructoblaster (1266), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jul 11, 2008 On tap at l’Autre Oeil (Gatineau). Superb cloudy golden body with a lasting white foamy head. Awesome malty/hoppy aroma with yeasty, citrusy, and coriander hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Taste is robust and well balanced. It carries sharp hoppy flavors and yeasty, fruity notes. Ends with a long, warming bittersweet finish. Probably Unibroue’s best beer since Charlebois sold the brewery to Sleeman’s.
tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Oct 6, 2008 Yeasty nose features cookie dough, spices, banana and lemon notes. Hazy golden body is topped by a foamy white head that recedes slowly to cover with some lace. Wheat and dough are apparent with plenty of banana and citrus fruitiness and lingering spices in the aftertaste. Bitterness is just enough to take the edge off. Medium full body with strong effervescence that makes it feel lighter and refreshing. Some alcohol warming. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, Oct-08). presario (2431), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Oct 6, 2008 Wow. Sleeman et. al. were quick to get this one to Alberta stores! Dark yellow. Full white head. Yeasty Belgian Blonde and yeast aroma. Someone described it as a cross between Blanche and Maudite which is a fair description of a Belgian Blonde. It is an approachable Unibroue with enough light spice to appease the lion and intrigue the mouse. A lighter ABV allows a little more drinking. Fresh and zesty. I can see having pints on a patio celebrating 400. elihapa (305), Connecticut, USA Oct 6, 2008 Bomber. Pours a light gold, with a largish white head. Aroma of yeast, Belgian spices (clove, coriander), and some banana-lemon. Flavor is surprisingly mild, given the 7.5 ABV. I tasted spices primarily, with wheat, yeast, and a small amount of fruit. Honestly, this tastes more like a Belgian White than anything “Belgian Strong”. Solid, overall. santoslhalper (183), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 4, 2008 Thanks to Tom Baker for the bottle! Slightly cloudy straw body with a thin, quickly dissipating head. Grainy, spicy aroma with ginger, pepper, malty, lemon, rubber, and burnt plastic notes. Butterscotch yeasty taste with orange, coriander and clove. Not bad, but a bit average. keepersj12 (423), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Oct 4, 2008 Very light and easy drinking for this brewery. Light amber pour with a very nice aroma of banana and spice. Goes down very smooth. Another winner.
