aged this bottle a little too long, oops, good papery belgian ale, thick malty rich sweet and dry finish, unibroue signature beer

Corked and caged. Nose resplendent with pitted fruit and layered malt, brown sugar, berries. Golden pour with a fizzy, foamy beige head. Taste is very fruity-malty but the creamy side shows the yeast to be contributing much more here than just throwing off esters. Brown sugar, toffee, homemade caramel, peach, plum, berry. Alcohol well-hidden with beautiful, slow-blooming chest warmth. Medium body, a little fizzy and thinnish but sticky and lip-smacking. Would certainly have it again!

Bottle 750ml. Pours golden with good white head. Aroma is of fruits, belgian yeast. Taste is of belgian yeast, spices, fruits. Medium body. Overall: Decent, but far from the best Unibroue can do.

750ml bottle. Hazy golden body, huge white fluffy white head with good retention, but almost no lacing. Aroma of yeast, spices, grains, lemon, cotton-candy. Taste is on the sweet side: sugar, honey, spices, yeast, cereals, a touch of hop bitterness. Light and very mild, intense carbonation.

Bottle (750 ml) 2011 vintage. Clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, candi sugar and slight fruity notes. Taste is moderately sweet and yeast with slight fruits and spices. Medium body. Good carbonation. Very good Belgian Ale. Refreshing, drinkable and well balanced. The Unibroue yeast isn’t too perceptible (which is good), maybe because the bottle is 1+ year old.

750ml bottle. Hazy banana yellow, big bubbly head. Sour fruit, basement yeast and something slightly savory in the aroma. I liked the taste better than the smell; it had some lemon, banana, bubblegum, almost no alcohol and a tiny hint of coriander. Body is very dry and effervescent.

Bottle from Broue Ha Ha. Pours a clear yellow with a good amount white foamy head that dissipates slowly and lots of active carbonation. Smell is fairly sweet, with caramel, but has some hoppy floral hints as well that make a somewhat apple smell. Palate is medium bodied with a whole lot of carbonation. Taste is sweet at first but then gets balanced by some good bitterness while still leaving the sweetness on top. Aftertaste is somewhat sweet and somewhat bitter. Very good!

Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a tulip glass. Pours a hazy straw color with a white head of foam. Aroma has a nice citric acidity lightly in the background behind its peppery forefront. Taste is a nice Belgian sugary pep and a touch of fruity acidity in the finish. Pretty nice beer.

I’ve had this twice and rated it neither time. The first time I knew I had another bottle and the second time I assumed I rated it the first time. It’s a Unibroue and I remember it fitting that bill to a “T”. Nothing exiting with their yeast up front, prominent and over-powering as usual. While it wasn’t bad, it felt and tasted like almost every-other Unibroue with minor tweaks.
