elihapa (461), Hawaii, USA Oct 6, 2008 Bomber. Pours a light gold, with a largish white head. Aroma of yeast, Belgian spices (clove, coriander), and some banana-lemon. Flavor is surprisingly mild, given the 7.5 ABV. I tasted spices primarily, with wheat, yeast, and a small amount of fruit. Honestly, this tastes more like a Belgian White than anything “Belgian Strong”. Solid, overall.
Lowe1983 (772), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Jan 6, 2009 Pours a golden color with a white head. Aroma is of citrus, lemon, spices, yeast, and very little alcohol. Flavor is slightly tart with lemon and citrus at first. Finishes with some yeast and spices. Not much warming but it’s still there. tomthompson89 (1242), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 6, 2009 had on Tap at beer bistro staff party, nice yellow color, some decent foam, nose is spicy.. reminds me of a more refined Fin du monde. flavor is similar less alcohol then expected, pretty easy drinking. good beer SamGamgee (707), La Selva Beach, California, USA Jan 3, 2009 75cl bottle. Hazy golden with a thick white head. Yeasty and fruity aroma with apple, peach and some citrus. Relatively dry flavor, crisp, and with similar fruity notes as the aroma and a hint of tartness in a wheaty way. Light bodied with ample carbonation. Almost like a big wit, but with some Duvel-type qualities. Quite tasty actually. DuffMan (2194), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jan 2, 2009 One of several New Years Eve delights shared with friends. Pours a cloudy bright orange with a towering thick white head showing decent retention and leaving some lace. Enticing aromas of fruit and flowers-- rosewater and orange blossom come to mind. Very spicy and mildly yeasty as well. Light and lively mouthfeel. Unibroue once again delivers with a terrific special brew. cfrancis (29), Gloucester, Ontario, Canada Jan 2, 2009 Pours a cloudy golden straw colour with little head. Pick up the spices and fruity head and spice in the palate. Good beer but the aftertaste didn’t agree with me.
