| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 7, 2008 2002. 700th rating. Sampling at both room temp and hot. Pours a darker amber color with pretty much no head. Room temp: Aroma is of cherry, vanilla, maybe a hint of some cinnamon, caramel malts, and a slight hint of alcohol. Flavor was notably cherry at first, gives way to the spices and then finishes with a very slight warming. At this point I have a feeling this is going to taste better hot. Hot: Aroma is stronger once heated. The spices are coming out a little more, as well as the alcohol. Same with the flavor. All the flavor as coming out more as I expected it would. Palate is much thicker when hot as well. I wouldn’t rate this as one of the best beers I’ve had but it’s interesting and still delicious. craftycarl21 (521), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 2, 2008 pours a brownish read with no head whatsoever. aroma is throughly cherry, but with definite notes of vanilla, spices, and a sweet creamy taste. taste is delicious; dominated by cherry, but the notes of cream and vanilla persist. Mouthfeel is incredible, sweetness is delightful but not overwhelming or fake, just like eating a candy bar. Unibroue daringly ventures away from its bread and butter belgian strong with this one, and succeeds on every level. Blom (390), Odense, Denmark
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 22, 2008 Vintage 2002, 6 years old, enjoyed cooled. The bottle opens with only a hint of a pzzzt and pours brown-red with absolutely no head. The aroma is dominated by cherry, oak, vanilla and cinnamon going into amazing sweet flavours of cherry, mazipan and vanilla. I am totally blown away by this one - it is far from the acid and sour belgian krieks but luckily it doesn’t have the sugary and artificial feel of many a sweet kriek. A grand experience! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 16, 2008 I had a very young vintage of Quelque Chose and though I have heard that it ages very well I was impressed with it as is. I warmed it up and was amazed at the weight of it. Seemed heavy on the tongue with deep flavours of almost ripe cherries and sharp spices. Then, it finishes with the smooth burn. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jun 14, 2008 Vintage 2002, Poured red-brown, almost like thick apple cider. No head at all. The aroma is amazing, almost as complex as the taste, It starts out smelling bitter, as you continue to inhale it turns sweet then as your inhalation draws deep it begins to smell boozy. Upon tasting this one decided to try heating it up as directed and a glass of it cold. I much prefer it heated up, although both are remarkable. Drinking it hot it has an initial acidity and spice, then it rounds off into something very sweet and delightful, then it trails of with a dry tart taste that lasts for about a minute. Reminds me of pie. Drinking it cold on the other hand, the spice is greatly diminished, and thus not so much reminding me of pie. It is however still very climatic with sweet ripe cherry. All in all this is an outstanding beer. Deserves the 100 percentile. Pyrozoid (352), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
