Really sweet, cherry overload, vanilla spice and cloves. The problem is the beer is dead. I would have thought I had a bad bottle, but so many of the other ratings say the same thing. Flat, cloying and difficult to drink. I hate paying $10 for something that seems so bad. mmmbeer (743), Austin, Texas, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 8, 2008 The HUGE pint, 9.4 oz bottle poured into flute- poured semi transparent, no head, no carbonation, aroma thick of cherries- it almost looks and pours like wine. Hits the mouth with a thin body, tartness of ripe and young cherries very present and delightful, a ginger/cinnamon like finish with a slight note of vanilla. I sampled cold (40 F) and hot (roughly 120 F)- the aromas and taste overall come through much better when warmed, and is much more enjoyable. I gotta grab some more of these bad boys because I keep making runs to the kitchen to warm up more!!! LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 7, 2008 Blah. Bad bottle maybe. Aroma was great. Strong cherry. Pour was decent. Pour was a nice deep amber with no head. Taste was very old and musty. Cherry and sweet light malt with no carbonation at all. Tasted like old cherry cough medicine. Wonder if this bottle was too old. jsquire (2098), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 2, 2008 I don’t know why I haven’t openned this, but this is a 8-8-02 bottle. Reddish brown color and it is almost still. Only a smattering of bubbles. Cold: Musty cherry, berry nose. The sour cherries are the dominate flavor, with some musty wood, vanilla, sweet tart candy and funky belgian notes. Warm: After doing a hot water bath as indicated, I get more of a head, but still just a whisp. The nose shows more alcohol. The flavor is improved with heat. Tart cherry pie, crust and all, warming alcohol, and fresher fruit notes. Warm this is quite tastey. I vote to heat it up. My numbers on this rating are a vague mixture of cold and warm. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 28, 2008 Updated: Feb 1, 2008Aroma of sour cherry and red grapes. Poors deep reddish/brown color. Tatse is well balanced mixture of sweet fruits and sour cherries. This beer has less carbonation than almost any beer I’ve had. Tried at room tempature. Incredibly unique beer, like nothing I’ve ever had. TheBeerOrg (1567), Kentucky, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 27, 2008 Pours reddish with a fully receding off-white head. Aroma of cherries, sweet candied fruits. Taste is cherries, syrup, raspberries. Mouthfeel is full bodied, lightly sticky with lush carbonation. Tried it room temperature this time, would like to try it again warm. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 27, 2008 0.75 l bottle at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007. Hazy red color, virtually no head. Sweet, acidic and cherryish aroma with notes of black currant and almonds. Sweet juicy cherry flavor with some acidity, vanilla and black currant. Too sweet for me. valpoaj (362), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 24, 2008 Delayed entry from Tasting at Holiday Beerfest in Omaha: Enjoyed this one at near room temperature, which might not have been the best to do. Interesting color was actually remarkable...went from ruby to black depending on the lighting...no head to speak of. Aroma is just ridiculous...cherry, cherry and more cherry with some cinnamon in there as well. Cherry is the dominant flavor with a bit of chocolate in there as well. Flavor lasts long after the sip is over. Very strong alcohol presence for an 8% ABV. Interesting and unique beer!
