MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jul 5, 2007 Bottle. Cool: Slightly hazy ruby with a tiny head, big bubbles, like you would see on a fresh poured grape juice. Aroma is big cherries, and reminds me of a kriek. Flavor was mostly cherries with a little baking spices (maybe cinnamon?) I didn’t really enjoy this method.
Warm: Aroma is the cherries with the cinnamon/spices much more prominent. The taste takes on a mulled wine characteristic. Alcohol takes on a presence. The only way to enjoy this drink. Rating from warm. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Jul 3, 2007 looking forward to this for quite a long time!! tried all three serving methods!!
:over ice: musky red, no head, faint cherry smell, very refreshing and the bitterness/spice level is mellowed to a summer cherry drink with a backbone, nice! ....
:cool-room temp:pours a dark ruby red, lacing is quite good, small small headring, taste is of cherries, stems, gluhwine, lsd, robitusin, very delicious!....
: warm-hot: this is the BIG surprise, I LOVE it warm! The aroma is magnificent! cheeries by the barrel! dark red goodness! my dutch granpa (who loves gluhwine) would dig this! ..amazingly delicious, warming!...the total package!...SOOO glad i put the money down for this fabulous treat! It really does work on so many levels!!! MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Jul 2, 2007 Bottle at KØ07. Good berry aroma, must be cherry, slightly citric. Hazy prune red colour. The flavour is rather sweet, and only slightly acidic to balance. Cinnamon aftertaste. Not very balanced, but actually drinkable. tjthresh (1746), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Jun 27, 2007 Darker pink. Still. Seems to come off a bit candy-ish, but I enjoyed today. Sort of a spicy background. Glad I tried it. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Jun 20, 2007 I actually prefer this cold than hot. It’s a bit tart. The Cherry flavor seems a bit tacked on, but it the rest is quite consistent. Slight taste of cloves and mild spice. worth a taste. nick76 (2634), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 20, 2007 The aroma has cherries, cloves, honey, and syrup. The appearance is red with a small amount of carbonation. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin but OK. I actually like it better cold than hot. extremeicon (108), Wichita, Kansas, USA Jun 20, 2007 Tried both hot and cold but I liked it better cold. Aroma and flavor both dominated by dark cherries and hints of cinnamon and other spices. Deep, dark red appearance and very lightly-carbonated and somewhat thin body. davidpl (435), Santiago, Chile Jun 19, 2007 Appearance: copper reddish color. Little head, pink color.
Aroma: sweetness and sourness of cherry (natural) and wild red fruits. Liquory, touches of clove, cinnamon and nutmeg. Reminiscences of aniseed. Very sweet and perfumed.
Flavor: cherries, raspberries, blackberries and plums. Touches of cinnamon, clove, aniseed and nutmeg. Sweet fruity start with sourness fruity end. The sweetness hidden the alcoholic degree.
Palate: Medium body, oily and silky texture. Very low carbonation.
Great fruit beer.
