dornoy (678), Lyngby, Denmark Mar 4, 2006 Amost no carbonation, a potent cherry aroma like cherry dessert sauce, almost no head, I wondered why this was called a beer. I drank it warm (first tim I’ve ever drunk warm beer). As a dessert beer, it is excellent. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Feb 20, 2006 "Hmm Served this at room temperature. Poured a red color no head. Aroma was of cherries and spices. Flavor was of cherries and cinnamon and cloves and tasted something i couldn’t figure out till i read ginger. Overall just a blah beer."
BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Feb 18, 2006 Updated: Feb 19, 2006[bottle, brewed 6/6/02] Pours a cloudy red color- zero head at all. Almost no carbonation at all. Flavors were musty, earthy and sweet. I drank this slightly chilled- it was good, however I feel if it was heated, it would be dramatically different. Still, a unique beer. I will definitely try this again, only heated. kujo9 (1077), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Feb 17, 2006 500 ml bottle 2002:
Chilled-Room Temp: Reddish amber, very flat w/ a not head. Similar to a cherry wine appearance. Initial aroma is cinnamon and cherries. Some musty and earhty notes possibly from the cork. Also seems to be a bit woody like fresh cut cherry wood and baked cherry pie w/ baked pie crust malty notes. Well balanced, dominant but subdued cherry pie flavor. A bit of spicy flavor, like a bit of nutmeg or cinnamon was put into this beer. Medium body, very light carbonation, just enough to let you know if’s there, smooth m/f w a bit of warming alcohol. A decent fruit beer to be sipped and shared, I don’t necessarily see myself drinking a bottle of this at one time.
Heated: The musty and earthy aromas are more pronounced and up front and the cherry aroma takes a back seat. Alcohol is a little more noticeable in the nose as it burns the nose a bit. A little bit of bready malt is very feint. More spicy than when chilled with a little white pepper and cork. Woody cherry pie flavor comes through more as it cools and it’s balance is a bit toward sweet pie crust malt. Alcohol is a little more present in the m/f when heated, but it actually gives it a bit fuller m/f along w/ a slightly drier m/f. Carbonation does not change a lot as it is almost not there to begin with. A nice winter sipper sitting by a fire place or in a hot tub!!!!
I believe I enjoy this a bit more warmed than chilled, but maybe because it’s freakin 20 degrees outside and it warms the insides when heated.
bigrond (1043), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 11, 2006 this was a good beer. Swelled great buut lacked every where else. But then again my bottle might have been a lttile flat. I’ll try this one again. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Feb 1, 2006 Bottled 8.8.2002. Whoa. That’s "something." Clear reddish brown body with absolutely no head or lacing. Aroma is fairly one dimensional, cherries and hints of spices. Flavor is the same, quite tasty with a sweet and slightly tart finish. Not very complex though, certainly not thick or syrupy. I drank this at slightly cooler than room temperature. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA Jan 27, 2006 The true beauty of this beer style, is the fact you can enjoy it a number of ways. In the summer months you could drink it cold as a cocktail or aperitif. You could enjoy it at room temperature and experience it as a kriek or fruit beer, but to really enjoy this beer, it should be served hot, the authentic way. It is first and foremost a winter warmer, and one of the most delicious ones you will ever taste. Coming in at 8% abv, and brewed with lots of pale malt, and cherries, Quelque Chose should be heated to "sipping" warm from the use of a double boiler, or 45 to 60 seconds in the microwave.
Quelque Chose pours to a beautiful, bright ruby color with a slight white head that fades and a soft carbonation. The nose of this beer is amazingly good with vapors of hard candy cherry aroma and waves of alcohol. The palate is lush and full with wonderful flavors of ripe cherry, with touches of cherry sourness, that play against a soft malty base. This beer finishes with more of that wonderful warming cherry character and alcohol heat, as it slides down hot, and warms the belly.
This beer is the ultimate winter warmer. It is the perfect beer to have after a cold day of shoveling snow, or as a beer to sit and relax with next to a roaring fire with a good book or movie. It is marketed in corked 500ml brown bottles and retails for $8. It is a bit pricey, but I say a style like this is well worth the money. 99lashes (3), salt lake city, Utah, USA does not count Jan 24, 2006 no carbonation. reddish amber color. smells and tastes very much like pie cherries. delicious.
