Smells deep and rich and sweet-cherries. Sweet cherry flavor, very tart, slightly burnt-like clove or cinnamon and spice. Cherry flavor is strong, but its enjoyable just to sip. Warm, alcohol is there. It doesn’t seem too over fruited, the fruit is more mellowed than most fruit beers. VTHopHead (895), Barre, Vermont, USA Feb 1, 2009 750ML - Pours a dark reddish-brown in color with almost no head and very little carbonation. Aroma is an interesting mix of cinnamon, cherry, nutmeg and some yeastiness. Flavor is very strong of cherries with a nice sour finish. Almost like straight cherry juice with spices rather than beer. I love cherries and this "beer" satisfies that craving... I did not try hot this time... something to look forward to in the future. Really good... Aroma is of cherries, raisins, prunes, and a little cinnamon. Flavor is slightly tart with cherry and light sweet malts. Low carbonation Grovlam (3790), Copenhagen, Denmark Jan 22, 2009 Bottle 2002. First served cold: Small bubbly white head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Cinnamon reddish color. Aroma of vanilla, fruit, cinnamon, cherry, mild sour fruit and some Christmas spice like notes. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation and light dry texture. Moderated sweet flavor with mild counter sour notes. Lingering cherry and spicy sour finish. Served HOT: The head was more foamy/creamy like. Notes became more alcoholic and overripe fruity with mild sour notes. The body appeared a bit more thick when served hot. Reminded me of Gløg that is served in Denmark during Christmas time. Nice experience and a bit more punch when served hot. Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 31, 2008 Bottle 50 cl. Cold: Pours an almost clear reddish amber, no head and completely flat. Sweetish liqueur-like cherry aroma with an overripe feel and a light underlying acidity. 8/3/8/3/15=3.7
Hot: Clear, warm reddish amber. Very intense cherry aroma. Medium body with sweet’n’sour cherry notes. Very authentic cherry flavours. 271208 thewolf (5623), Kolding, Denmark Dec 27, 2008 Bottle. Vintage 2002. Cold rating: Clear amber, no head. Powerful cherry aroma, vinious, some cellar. Very low carbonation. Great fruity flavour, light tart and good cherries. Good, long, caramel/toffee aftertaste. Warm rating: More red than amber, a good, staying, small, white head. Lightly vinious aroma, lots of cherries. Almost no carbonation. A bit sweeter than cold, lots more spices abound. Good warming feeling with good cherries and caramel.
