dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Dec 10, 2004 Had the dad over for his birthday, watched the Jirov-Moorer fight, ate pizza, and drank fine beers, starting with this one. Poured the beer into the double boiler til it got nice and hot with a little cream-colored layer on top. Cherries were strong but good. I thought it tasted like a cherry cider (but w/out the alcohol). Definitely want to try it the other ways, but if you haven’t had it hot, try that first. Smacky (71), San Clemente, California, USA Dec 9, 2004 Can you say Quelxie Shoes? Anyway, this is a wonderful product of those Quebecians at Unibroue. I’ve only ever had it cold, but allowed it to warm to near room temp over the course of drinking it. Spiced candied cherries dominate the bouquet and flavor profile of this brew. Some flavorful malt and alcohol as well. Cannot wait to drink this warm by the fire in Mammoth this New Year. vikingman69 (11), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Dec 7, 2004 2002 vintage, consumed on dec 6, must admit I consumed 2 bottles which gave me a smile I wont soon forget. The first bottle was cunsumed at 50F out of a standard Unibroue glass. The aroma just about knocked me off my barstool. Taste of cherries and spices with very little alcohol taste(for an 8% beer). One of the best beer I have ever had. BUT WAIT!!!! There was the second bottle in which Chef Frankie(at MaHaffeys Pub), dropped the bottle into a pale of simmering water. When the nectar of cherries reached 100F, we sampled something that was ment to be sample by the best of the gods. This was hot cherry cobbler that mom would be proud of. This was quite simply the best thing i have ever drank. Chef Freddy and just stared at each other, smiled and nodded. No word necessary. Enjoy this with the family at christmas, I know i will! footy (334), scottsdale, Arizona, USA Nov 28, 2004 bottled 750 ml. Reddish brown. Fruitcake aroma. Ist drunk at 51F good mouthfeel cherry pie taste but too much alcohol taste. On ice at 36F Less cherry more bitter. 112F Overwhelming alcohol taste. Room temp at 71F The best taste but still overwhelmingly alcohol and astrigent tasting. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 25, 2004 Vintage 2002, consumed on Thanksgiving Day 2004.
At 60 F, pours a crystal clear cherry-toned amber body with trace carbonation and some noticeable viscosity. Aroma of sweet apples, cherries, cinnamon, cloves, and pie crust. Flavor is of sweet cherries and spice. Mildly tart with considerable sweetness. Slightly syrupy feel due to the viscosity and residual sugar, which is to be expected at a cooler temperature.
At 150 F, pours a small frothy pinkish white head. Juicy cherry flavor comes out very nicely. Has some hot spiced cider qualities. Mouthfeel improves at the higher temperature, becoming more smooth and less sticky. Tasty, festive, and belly-warming properties, in both senses, make this a great holiday drink to share. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Nov 24, 2004 Updated: Oct 28, 2005Pours a ruby red with no head. Aroma is exactally like cherry pie. Flavor is sweet tart cherry but not overpowering. More like a sweet wine than a beer but still very tasty on a winter night. I had mine at room temp but i think this would be even better mulled. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA Nov 23, 2004 Updated: Dec 23, 2004(Sampled, at room temp, then warmed up)Pours dark red, no head. Aroma of cherry, cinnamon, and bread. Flavor is cherries and cinnamon. Like tasty warm cider. Thanks to MIB Romeo for sharing this one with us. MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA Nov 22, 2004 i rated this beer cool then warmed it up on the advice of a friend and found it to be an extremly good desert style drink warm.
The aroma carried scents of cherry and spice (cinnamon). The appearance was a deep cherry read w/ no real head The palate was light and sweet w/ a medium creamy texture. The flavor instantly reminded me of cider w/ a cinnimon stick.. the chery was not overpowering but prevelant. Overall this was really really good.
