hopdog (5525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 19, 2004 2002 bottle tasted on 11/19/04 (date on bottle was 08-08-2002). I pulled this one out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature 2 hours before tasting. Poured a medium, clear reddish color with no head. Smells like I just cut into one of my mom’s freshly baked cherry pies (haven’t had one of those in 20 years). Tastes like the cherry pie too! Sweet start with a lightly tart finish. Would never have guessed this one was 8% - alcohol hidden very well.I enjoyed this one. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA Nov 15, 2004 Drank cold so... Pours red with no head. Aroma is sweet cherries. Very thick mouthfeel. Cherries and sugar. Just a bit of tartness but then the sweetness takes over. Very simular to a cider in taste. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Nov 9, 2004 Chilled- pours with no head- almost no carbonation, with a deep red color body. Aroma is of sweet cherries, a lambic-type aroma of barnyard and bacteria. Flavor is muddled a little from the chill but cherry flavor dominates like a good lambic, however it is mostly sweet and is lacking some of the tartness that i was expecting from the fruit. As it warmed to room temp, some of the tartness came out as well as a hint of alcohol. I heated this up in the microwave for the last 1/3 for about 25 seconds so it was pretty hot. Aroma and flavor turned almost into a medicinal quality with alcohol being prevalent yet not to the point of a burning sensation. I prefer this either room temp or jsut slightly chilled. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Nov 8, 2004 Updated: Jan 12, 2006Bottle: Drank this at room temp and warmed. At room temp: Aroma is apple pie with some cinnamon. Don’t quite get the cherry I was expecting. Pours a transparent orangish-reddish-brown. Almost no head. Flavor is apple and cinnamon with a cherry tartness in the finish. Served warm: Apple pie aroma is intensified. Less of a head. More apple and less cherry tartness. Bitterness makes only a slight presence. Outstanding. Better warmed. GeniusGirl (221), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Nov 6, 2004 Updated: Nov 7, 2004bottle. wow. i love this. a cloudy red/brown color, like an over ripe cherry... flavor of black cherries and a light wine... crisp and not too sweet... i would love to warm this up a little more and pour it over a bowl of vanilla ice cream! Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA Nov 5, 2004 Dark Red. Strong aroma of spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger) along with faint fresh sour cherries aroma. Ancient and Authentic flavor. Odd. Really, this is strange. Strong apple cider notes along with the spices that were also evident in the aroma. Faint, tart, sour cherry flavor is present as well. An interesting brew. GermanBrews76 (667), Eugene, Oregon, USA Nov 3, 2004 drunk hot (appy 148 deg F)Intense ruby body, thin clear/grey head. nose abound with cherries, of course, apples, nutmeg and cinnamon alsdo heavily adorn this beautiful aroma. tart and cidery, tastes more of apples than cherries, perhaps a hint of cocoa as well. Wow this is nice stuff. Biting, dry finish with alcohol emerging. Lots of spices and real warm (obviously) bluevegie (2169), Perth, Australia Oct 27, 2004 Deep ruby colour with no head at all and no carbonation. Fairly strong aroma of cinnamon and marzipan. Taste is more preferable to the aroma, cherries come through first, followed quickly by some spice and cloves, body is a little thin but any thicker and it would be a bit hard to take, alcohol is lovely and can be enjoyed at all sorts of serving temperatures it seems. Cheers!
