badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jul 30, 2004 Served Cold. Pours a middle grade red color with no head or carbonation. Aroma of spices. Cherries are the main flavor with some nutmeg and cinnamon as well. A tad sour as well. Must try it warm in the winter... Quetzalcoatl (153), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Jul 28, 2004 Had this at first chilled, poured with no carbonation. Sour cherries dominated the flavor and aroma. Then I heated it up, and it really came alive. The spices awaken and add to the flavor, a slight bit of carbonation appears, and the all the flavors really blend nicely. Very enjoyable. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA Jul 28, 2004 Had COLD. Transparent, Rose Coloring. Very Evident Cherry Aroma. Initally the Spice Hit me First...Then the Cherries... I Immediately Thought This Was Good, But Would Taste Better Warm and in the Winter Season.. Served Cold...the Cherries Should be The Dominant.. Wonderful Offering From Unibroue. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Jul 27, 2004 Dark red with no head and low carbonation. Strong cherry aroma with
hints of sweet spices that are more
apparent when heated. Flavor is sweet cherries on first sip but dries on the finish. When sipped warm, the spices
really come through. Reminds me of warm mulled cider. Definitely different. BennyTicklez (621), USA Jul 26, 2004 Quite a unique beer. I tried it heated and cold. Pours a red that I’ve never seen a beer pour before, with no head. Very sweet with hints of nutmeg or cinnamon almost. Even more spices emerge when it is heated up. Great stuff. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jul 23, 2004 First tried at room temperature, then warm at hey kevin's suggestion. This is dark red and brown with virtually no head. The aroma reminded me of cherry jelly. Seemed very sweet with definite apple notes. The taste is also fairly sweet with noticable alcohol. I also noticed vanilla and milk chocolate. Finishes with apple and a slight cinnamon. When warm, this becomes even more delicious. It is then more like a sour cherry pie with a livelier mouthfeel. This would make a great dessert on it's own. atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA Jul 12, 2004 Verynice redishgarnet color, no head and no active carbonation. There are tiny bubbles which stick to the side of the glass. The aroma is mostly cherry, sour cherry, and a hint of alcohol. A cherry flavor is obvisous and there is also an additional sweetness and some spice. It’s light bodied and crisp. Nice beer, although I didn’t try it heated as they suggest. OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Jul 4, 2004 Bottle Dated 08-08-02. Chilled - Deep garnet red with a thin ring of white foam around the edge of the glass. Sour cherry, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lightly acidic aroma. Lots of cherry, oak, woody, earthy, and spicy flavours. A bit of a Burgundy red wine character as well. Medium to full bodied, dry and refreshing. (9/4/9/5/19)
Warmed - Clearer and brighter red colour. More foam, with a thin white layer covering the top of the beer. Cinnamon and nutmeg are more apparent accompanying the sour cherries in the aroma. Less oak and earthy character, mostly sour cherry with alcohol more apparent. Thinner and lighter mouthfeel. (8/5/8/4/17)
