LooseCannon (589), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Jul 18, 2008 750ml bottle, Best before 07-17-2021. Pours ruby red in color with no head at all. Aroma sweet, cherries, clove and vanilla. Taste is the same as the aroma with light tart and with alcohol finish. DTM (329), Winters, California, USA Jul 9, 2008 Bottle from a small store in Winters, CA. Found it covered in dust and thought I would take a chance. Unfortunatley I don’t think it was kept to preserve flavor. There was absolutley no pop when we opened the bottle. Although there was no carbonation the cherry flavor was still okay. Will have to try again. timfoolery (297), California, USA Jul 8, 2008 DTM found this one at a liquor store near him covered in dust. I’m not sure it aged well while it was there. We also neglected to drink it hot. I have to try it again to get the real impression. Lowe1983 (730), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Jul 7, 2008 2002. 700th rating. Sampling at both room temp and hot. Pours a darker amber color with pretty much no head. Room temp: Aroma is of cherry, vanilla, maybe a hint of some cinnamon, caramel malts, and a slight hint of alcohol. Flavor was notably cherry at first, gives way to the spices and then finishes with a very slight warming. At this point I have a feeling this is going to taste better hot. Hot: Aroma is stronger once heated. The spices are coming out a little more, as well as the alcohol. Same with the flavor. All the flavor as coming out more as I expected it would. Palate is much thicker when hot as well. I wouldn’t rate this as one of the best beers I’ve had but it’s interesting and still delicious. craftycarl21 (120), USA Jul 2, 2008 pours a brownish read with no head whatsoever. aroma is throughly cherry, but with definite notes of vanilla, spices, and a sweet creamy taste. taste is delicious; dominated by cherry, but the notes of cream and vanilla persist. Mouthfeel is incredible, sweetness is delightful but not overwhelming or fake, just like eating a candy bar. Unibroue daringly ventures away from its bread and butter belgian strong with this one, and succeeds on every level.
