bright reddish-brown colour - cold: absolutely no foam, vinegar and cherry aroma, vinous, oily, very sweet, dry and bitter, sugary finish - hot: deep spicy nose shows up (cloves, ?), very sweet with some acid notes, very long cherryish and alcohol finish

Blood red colour. The aroma is assertive cherries and spice. The flavour is quite spicy these days, with abundant cherry. The finish is fairly tart, but also with a lot of sugariness as well. Sadly, this beer isn’t what it used to be. It is thinner, which makes the alcohol more apparent (especially when heated) and the spiciness is a bit over the top. I miss the robust maltiness that used to be there. A former classic.

cherry syrup. pinkest beer ever. im drinking this around a camp fire in Napierville as Pierre states, ’I have my own Prostitute.’ The guy in the gas station told me to buy 5 or 6 because if I come back at 3 am he would beat me senseless. I should have. The cherry flavor is backed up by flavors too numerous to count. Bliss.

I drank this hot as recommended. Comparable in quality but significantly different overall to Liefman’s Gluekriek. Strong sour cherry flavor dominates the beer. Flavor is enjoyable but I tasted medicinal notes that knocked this brew back a point or two on my scale. Alcohol is certainly well covered, finish is incredibly smooth...the tartness of the malt quickly vanishes in the finish, which is good, because as it is enjoyable at the beginning of the beer, I don’t know if my mouth would like a long drawn out finish of such flavors. Could be a little spicier for my taste as well, but nevertheless another great beer from a great brewery!

somethin different. ruby red - little or no carbonation. sweet fruity aroma that makes one thirsty. taste is sweet with lot of cherry tartness. beer awakes as it warms - drink it at room temperature or mull it for a while. a fantastic desert beer well worth seeking out.

Cold. Red-amber color, no head, flat. Very nice cherry aroma, light Christmas spices, red grapes, bitter oranges, light cloves. Sweet, sirupy, but very well balanced by a citrus sourness. And in the end a background note of hop is a pleasant surprise.
Hot. The alcohol punch in the nose is a good reminder of the cold days and the snow, but the flavor is less complex than when tasted colder, yet is very pleasant.

Cold, I would drink more and more. Hot, it can be replaced by many better nordic Grogg or hot China Martini (I'm a big fan of it). Other Gluhbeers:

This beer is perfect for Christmas. Good as a supstitution to gløgg (mulled wine containing raisins and almonds) Very fruity. Cherries and cinnamon. A real titbit. It gets better is its is consumed heated.

Served cool room temperature. Deep chestnut/garnet color with a minimal head. Definate spiced cherry aroma - visions of wassail wafting through the air. I will try this warmed some day. Cinnamon seems to be the main spice. Slight medicinal quality with a touch of citric fruit bite. A festive ale for the holidays.
