Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Vladimir. Clear amber. Aroma of fruits, malt, caramel and candies. Sweet flavor, malty and fruity, with caramel and a finish that is a tiny bit drier with a hint of alcohol. Medium-bodied.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle 341 ml (2011) and bottle 750 ml (2008).
Golden amber with a small white head and fair lacing. Aroma is peated with the presence of Unibroue yeast and scotch notes. Taste is malty with notes of citrus and smoke. Slight acidic.
Amber with a small white head and fair lacing. Aroma of caramel, fig and old-style apple juice with slight peated notes. Unibroue yeast completely disapeared. Taste of fig, caramel, scotch, smoke and fruits with porto-like notes (maderization). A bit watery and alcohol is more present.
This is not the kind of beers that Unibroue is doing well.

Has a mediocre nose and a very light follow thrpugh that verges on foul as the clock ticks on. Dont see how and where the smoked vibe is coming from. Dont smell or taste any of that. Tap.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
...had this once out of a sampler pack. I personally didn’t like it, but I think it might have been too warm, which could have hurt the flavor. Tasted like whiskey malt, some alcohol, and spiciness too. IT was a while ago, and it’s hard to remember exactly, I’ll have to try it again.

On draft at bier markt. Hazy golden color, nearly no head. Smell is quite nice, malty sweetness and grassy hops. Palate is smooth with moderate carbonation and slight bitter finish. Taste is really nice with a slightly fruity hint and a slight hoppy bitterness. Really nice overall, quite good on a hot day.

Bottle. Cloudy, dull copper colour with bubbly white head. Strong yeast smell with a bit of wheat and spice. Strong malty flavour with tones of cloves, banana and smoke. Light verging on medium-bodied with lively carbonation and a smooth, layered finish. Delicious beer on a sunny day.

Cloudy light amber pour with small soapy looking head. Aroma of wet hay, yeast and a hint of smoke. Taste of rye malts, yeast and a touch of smoke in the background. Fairly dry finish. Crisp mouthfeel. Not bad but I was expecting better from this awesome brewery.

I tried this beer on May 11, 2012 on tap at "The Beerbistro" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a hazy dark peach colour with a bubbly white cap. The aroma was smoked wood, dark fruits, caramel and some floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, slightly creamy, and medium carbonation. The flavour was smoked wood, weak malty tones, light fruit notes, and a tart finish. Not a lot of bitterness.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2012 Bottle 341ml. , Bottle 750ml.
2011: Pours hazy golden with weird gassy head, fully diminishing in seconds. No lacing at all. Aroma is of yeast, spices, malt, citrus, possibly smoke. Taste is of citrus, spices, yeast, malt. Acid finish. Nothing outstanding, classic Unibroue signature. [7/3/7/3/14]
2008: Same appeareance. Aroma is fruits, ligther yeast. A little acidity is noticable, and the fruits are now more deep, ripped-like. Overall: More watery than fresh one? Aging didnt really made the beer better. [7/3/7/3/14]

On tap. Hazy amber and gold. Low head. Major whiskey aroma, berries, slight smoke, mild yeast. Mouthfeel is almost a wheat beer. Flavours follow with a sweet almost candy finish. Smells and tastes boozier than it is. Unique and flavourful.
