Hazy amber glow radiates beneath a thin dough colored lacing. Strong yeast smell hovers over the beer, and never departs from the Raftman experience. The immediate effect in the mouth is warmth, and I think this is in part due to the well concealed carbonation of the beer; Raftman is simultaneously dense and smooth, light and yet bread-like. Raftman indeed straddles styles, as I would consider this more of a Belgian Blonde than a smoked beer, as the smoke only appears in a soft, sweet aftertaste. The two most remarkable things about this beer is that it is only 5.5% ABV (I swear it is more) and that it does not have the typical Unibroue yeast taste on it.

Light brown and cloudy, light carbonation. The malt aroma and taste is sweet more than smoky, not what I expected from whisky malt. Clean finish.

The foam is nice and stable. The smell very aromatic hard roasted malt and some smoke. The taste is not as complex and rich as you wish. However, it has a good sweetness of the malt and again tasted a slightly smoky flavor. It is soft and round, but not very rich. The aftertaste has only slightly volatile hops.

A beautiful beer! Light Amber color with a healthy white head. Aroma was earthy, apples too. Medium bodied on the tongue, crisp, malt dominated, no big encore here though....just more earthiness, perhaps caramel notes, sort of a strange chalkiness at times near the finish.

Bottle. Amber with off white head. Yeast, fruity sweetness, dark malt and very light smoke. Very surprising.

Perhaps this is hurt by the category, maybe "Specialty Grain" is more appropriate. From one of the most actively effervescent brews I have ever seen comes only the faintest smoked-wood scent. Instead, this tasty refreshment is dominated by aromas of apple, pear, coriander, light spicy white pepper and a light bubblegum and basement mix reminiscent of Belgian fare. The curtain matches the drapes nicely in this dry amber pour with a bubbly ivory cap. There is nothing quite remarkable about this brew but it is a pleasant sipper.

Pours hazy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, yeast and subtl hint of smoke. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long malty, yeasty and caramel finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Nose is sweet malt, fruity, apples. Taste is dominated by Belgian yeast, herbal, fruity. Wit-like flavours. Definitely not a smokey beer, but a tasty ale no less.

Cloudy light brown with an acceptable off white foam. Lots of Belgian spiciness in the aroma. Body is malts, light caramel, pepper, and allspice. Nice enough but whiskey and significant? I think not.
