jredmond (587), New Jersey, USA Mar 16, 2008 750mL bottle gift from Pwn3d....what a guy. Had this beer directly after trying the ephemere cassis, so at first this was a bit of a sting to this in comparison. It pours a hazy orange body with small head. The aroma is spice and maybe prune. This beer was great - the 7.5% alcohol was extremely well hidden, maybe a bit present in the finish.
djd07 (321), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 22, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange amber color with a large frothy off white head that lasts. The aroma is a potent caramel with spicy malt. Good lacing on the glass. The taste is a very sweet honey and caramel. Full bodied and a nice malty finish. A very good belgian strong ale from Unibroue. kidmartinek (656), austin, Texas, USA Jul 22, 2008 Pours cloudy dark amber with a golden tint. Large offwhite head. Incredibly strong aroma of yeast, citrus and sweet malt. The sip starts dry and bitter, giving way to a rich sweet fruit (apple and plum) taste, and finishing thin and malty. The palate is full, and has a slight burn, and resembles a very light syrup. Imaena (175), Portland, Maine, USA Jul 19, 2008 Bottle 750 courtesy of Paul 08’.
Tight sweet nose. Soft golden wheat pour with amber leanings. Not much on the hop side. Malt, honey cake, and nice sweet bread. Belgian yeast in the finish. Good body. Sound brew. LooseCannon (589), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Jul 12, 2008 750ml bottle, Best by 07/31/09. Pours cloudy orangish amber in color with full foamy light brown head. Aroma sweet, hoppy and yeasty. Taste spicey, yeasty and fruity with dry finish. nhorween (488), New York, New York, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle, cork and cage. Hazy orange-brown pour with a big (eggy?) head. Caramel nose, hops, banana, citrus, mustard. Some alcohol comes through. Belgian yeast and candi sugar everywhere - honey, apples, some toffee, lightly toasty. Spicy finish, quite peppery. Well crafted, not fantastic.
