Nov 7, 2009 750 mL caged and corked bottle from Grape & Gourmet (purchased November 2008, best by January 15, 2011). Muddy brown pour with a fizzy off-white head. Raisin and prune juice aroma. Very well-balanced dark fruit flavor with just the right amount of light tartness blended with a not-too-sweet Belgian candi sweetness. Very little alcohol detected at first but more so after this warms a bit. An excellent beer.

Nov 7, 2009 Bottle. Very dark brown, almost black pour. Translucent. No head on the beer. Spicy Belgian nose with some dried fruit (raisins maybe?). Moderate alcohol up front. Lots of carbonation. Sweet fruit and some spicy Belgian finish. Bitterness afterward. Nice palette. Overall pretty good, but not my favorite Unibroue offering.

Nov 6, 2009 Pours a great looking dark amber. Aroma of nuts and caramel. Taste is of nuts, malt, some hops and overripe fruit. Good beer, taste isn’t as deep or complex as I might have hoped.

Nov 5, 2009 Bottle 355ml. A delicious treat. Rich aroma of dark fruit, port, alcohol, and yeast. Flavour is sweet, with long-lasting bitterness to finish. Syrupy in the palate, and medium-bodied. Dark brown in the glass, cloudy, with a fizzy white head.

Nov 4, 2009 Medium head that disappeared almost instantly. Aroma is of lots of fruit with distinct apricot. Quite complex, with a fair bit of malt and slight bitterness. Good offering, alcohol works nicely as well.

Nov 2, 2009 This was a very dark brew with a slightly orange tint to it. It left behind a huge head that collapsed pretty quickly. It did leave an almost soda-like carbonation film behind though. This carbonation carried through for the rest of the tasting. It was a very sweet-smelling brew but otherwise it was a little bland - Fonnie and I couldn’t ID any specific scents aside from that. It tasted very sweet and fruity. It also had a little bit of a dry taste to it - like wine. Basically, everything up to this point was reminiscent of wine. ...And it didn’t stop there. The texture was very smooth but it had very little body. There was no bitterness though - it was all sweet and it had a very nice flow of flavors throughout the tasting.
