Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

From a 12 ounce bottle into a Trappist glass. Pours a deep brown with a tad of head. Barely illuminates when held to a lamp. Nutty, fruity nose. Taste is some kind of tree fruit that fades well. Not too sweet. Not too shabby either. Note: this is compared to port, which is nauseatingly sweet for me. This beer is nowhere near the ports I have tried, only in minuscule flavor maybe. Don’t let the comparison be off-putting please.

Bottle from Drinks of the World, Geneva. Pours deep brown with a cream head. Sweet aroma of raisin, port and caramel. The taste is rich and fruity with similar flavours, port especially. Spiciness to it as well. Tasty stuff.

12 oz. bottle from Utah State Liquor Store in Provo. Appearance: 2 fingers tan head that does not last too long, ok lacing, prune red color, cloudy. Aroma: fruity, citrus, coriander, light molasses in the background. Palate: medium body, average carbonation, oily texture, alcohol warming down the throat. Taste: sweet molasses that is quickly overtaken by lees and fruity sweetness, prune on the back end of the sweetness, turning into a light alcoholic finish. Overall, very smooth, pretty drinkable for size.

Pours beautiful dark garnet with substantial tan head that reduces quickly but lingers in decorative skim. Aroma is dates, notes, black grapes, raisins, sweet malt. On the palate, caramel notes also emerge along with a wisp of chocolate, especially as it warms. Yes, this beer is better when given a bit of time in the glass. Very nice medium body and pronounced effervescence help make the mouthfeel satisfying without being heavy. Similarly, the alcohol is present, but as a warm note not a burn. It’s self-defeating for a brewer to compare a beer to port, especially old port, but I can sympathize with the impulse here. They aren’t the same, and yet they’re reaching for the same thing: a rich yet restrained beverage for a cold afternoon, a fine meal or just dessert, It’s a pleasure to drink a big beer that is light on its feet, whose makers are happy to present it as mellow rather than "wrecking." A rebuke to American craft beer.

Bottle pours dark maroon with thin tan head. Looks and smells like cherry coke. Taste of port with spice and malt. Nice even balance with quick finish.

From a 12 oz bottle with best by date 12/03/16. Quite dusty, not sure how old this one is. Enjoyed Thanksgiving night. Pours a dark maroon/purple, ruby highlights on the periphery with a nice collar. Looks like a highly carbonated cola to be honest. Smells sweet. Fruity smells from the yeast, dates. Taste follows the nose. Slightly metallic, don’t know if that’s from the age. But dark fruit all over. I have to say, for a beer this dark, I was expecting something much heavier, but this thing was so light in the mouth, maybe from the carbonation, maybe just the style. Not bad, but not quite next level.

Aromas of purple grapes, cherry cola, subtle peppercorn, some caramel, cooked sugar. Hazy deep dark red, off-white head retains very well. Fruity, nice herbaceous spicy notes. Medium bodied, fluffy carbonation. A dangerously drinkable beer.
