COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

Beer Markt 2002 October. Yup, after Cést What we had food and next was Beer Markt. Nice beer to finalize night Great look, dark amber , huge great looking head , one of the best looking beers I had . I found that it was also a bit cherry, fruity and nicely warming.

Nice sweet, rich malty flavor full of fruit flavors. A bit too much carbonation for this style. (Only thing I can say bad.)

Deep dark in color, rich fruity malt nose. Very complex flavor, slight hop in the mid-palate. Excellent beer for this style

Dark, surprisingly easy ale with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Very much a Belgian - from Canada!

This didn’t really remind me of old port. It was fruity berry/ plums. Very full body. with a some what dry finish. Not bad for Canadians.

This beer rocks. Complex belgian ale...aren’t they all? The aroma is very nice... malty, yeasty with hints of dates, plums, port and caramel. This dark, murky amber/brown ale has a large, off-white, rocky head. Excellent lacing and fully lasting. Tastes great... More filling!! Nevermind that. It’s a little on the sweet side for me, but very enjoyable nontheless. Moderately malty with hints of honey and a nice alcohol flavor. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel. Fizzy. Fuity, a bit port-like. The long finish is slightly pungent, and medium dry. Excellent beer. Try one.

A subtle raisin plumb nose with dashes of orange-lemon rind, rounded out with hints of green apples, taps you on the senses and lures you into the glass. Orange edges and a dark nut brown center lurk in the middle. Big foamy head, but submits quickly to the alcohol, yet there still is plenty of carbonation. The fruity template of this is very nice, if you can call it fruity, it is more of a delicate dance between alcohol, spices, and sweetness. Try this if you can, you can’t go wrong.

A quality belgian from Canada. I found it complex but not overpowering.

I don’t know about ’ripe’ fruits in the aroma & flavors, smells & tastes almost like a Belgian Wit, this has that taste like someone crushed up a bunch of veggies & threw it in a beer bottle, I didn’t really like this beer at first, but then after a few some sips I did begin to appreciate it & like it, overall this beer isn’t too bad, but not one that I could drink all the time

Turbid dark brown-amber with rich tan head and speckled sheet-lace. Aroma yeasty, fruity (as in fruit brandies), estery--a bit oaken. Malt front followed immediately by fruit essences: plums come immediately to mind here, pears as well--sweet and bright flavors coincide. Mild yeasty spiciness kicks in toward the finish and stays around for a while. This has outstanding smoothness and fine body...Carbonation is positively in play but does not mask flavors. This is outstanding in all major respects.
