halfonit (424), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA Jan 24, 2009 A beautiful hazy, deep dark brown color. Definitely has a burnt malt scent with hints of cherries and what seems to be coffee. Taste has that complex yeast flavor that I love from this company. Also has malts with a little bit of a sweet ending. Another good brew from Unibroue. Good job guys. vacantskies (79), Spokane, Washington, USA Jan 23, 2009 Pours dark with a frothy head. The body is a dark burgundy. It has a rich woody aroma. It has a pleasant malty taste. timmy300 (199), bloomington, Illinois, USA Jan 23, 2009 tastes like sweet red wine and dried apricots with the signature unibrew yeasty goodness. big, big beer with a very slight tart finish.......nice........oh yeah, hint of chocolate MPosey (21), , Georgia, USA Jan 21, 2009 An almost odorless beer at first pour. It opens up a little and has some fruity notes. A nice, somewhat flat attack which gives way to a slightly sweet and sour finish. A nice aftertaste, that is a bid earthy/almost grassy but only a hint. tennessejed420 (69), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jan 20, 2009 Light beige / kahki head that persists for awhile at a 3/4 cm height. Smell is...exquisite. Dark, rich smelling spices. Fig with definitely a hint of port. This beer is a muddy dark chocolate color. 4-5 waves of flavor hit the palate - first deep roasty malt, then spice and a mellow, earthy aftertaste. Very nice. aletales (73), , Oklahoma, USA Jan 20, 2009 This beer poured the color of rich earth with a tight, caramel colored, well bubbled head that dissipated quickly. The aromas of licorice, and malt promised that the best was yet to come. On the palate it’s vigorous carbonation was followed by a thick and smooth and creamy feel with a rich, roasted malt taste and a fruity finish. Certainly, the commercial description of a Port wine and ripe fruit is completely accurate. The complexity of this beer made every sip an adventure. Dervock (178), Emu plains, Australia Jan 20, 2009 Trois Pistoles is a very dark beer, as dark as a stout or porter, although there is a certain dark, dark ruby colour in there.
It pours to a great head made up of nice tight small bubbles and settles to hold a head which....looks a bit like an Irish Coffee!
This is a complex beer and not one which is easy to describe, the flavours change from the first taste right through to quite a drawn out aftertaste BuckeyeBoy (1645), Boise, Idaho, USA Jan 17, 2009 Bottle pours out a nice mahogany topped with a small head. Aroma of sweet pit fruit and rich malt. Tast was more of the sweetness along with a nice spice. Plenty of the belg yeast and malts. A nice brew.
