COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

Very intense and complex nose. Malt, alcohol, dates, cherries, dough. Dark body with a light layer. Yeast, also plums taste. Smooth. Well done

this pours like a pumpernickel liqueur: a st. bernard dog of deep brown with a ruby russet glow cutting through the murk of yeast. the head is a big bubbled, mocha sofa cushion. the nose too tells initially of that big wash of root beer bubbles. once it settles, aromas rise bearing gifts of dried fruits and woody incense, lemon and spiced cakes. itís too aggressively carbonated right out of the bottle and needs a time out. while waiting one may choose to admire the subtle scent of sarsaparilla root that can be found just to the left of the abundant clove. flavor of soft brown apples, butter and english muffins. a sweetness best appreciated at the cerebral apex of the evening, whilst puffing luxuriously and dreamily on a cuban monte cristo pyramid.

A cloudy belgian wheat beer, a little on the alcoholy tasting unlike other Unibroue brew. Good looking but a little hard to drink.

Iím not a huge fan of high alcohol content beers, and Trois Pistoles falls into that category. Belgian wheat aroma. Beautiful deep red hue, with off-white, creamy, lasting head. Sweet and flavorful. Although alcohol is noticeable, it is not as overbearing as a 9% ABV brew normally is. Solid, but is borderline hard to drink.

At first this seemed rather winey and cidery, but as it neared room temp it transformed into a completely different beer. Lots of fruits: plum, fig, grape...mixed well with the high alchohol. The malt really comes through beneath this with a musky peaty kind of punch to the palate. Very complex and very good.

Has a dark cider color with a wine smell. Taste is wheaty with a strong spice/alcohol aftertaste. Overall it is pretty good, not the best for me, but pretty good.

This was a great belgian ale, although brewed in Cananda. Lots of spicyness in the taste along with yeastiness. The finish was well hopped, leaving a dry and solid taste in the mouth. A suberp beer.

Very satisfying pop of the cork, and gorgeous in the glass with a deep caramel color and lasting head. Aroma is understated, giving few hints of the plum, raisin, and apple cider flavors within. A match for most Belgian-made Belgians. The palate disappointed, however, being less lively than others in the style. Should be matched carefully with food--I found it did not work well with all the flavors on my plate at Thanksgiving dinner, 2002.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2003 Amazingly complex beer. Hints of grape and plum, very smooth and somewhat spicy. Extremely sweet but not cloying, balanced well. Very dark body and incredible head retention. A world class beer.

UPDATED: AUG 13, 2009 12oz.BB05/22/05.Huge pff cap explosion.Deep, dark red/mahogany color.Bursting carbonation unleashes a finely beaded, dense, entrancing head.Aromatics are literally slapping me from the La Chouffe tulip.Dark fruit, spices(pepper, corriander?)slight roastiness, and alcohol. The yeast gives the overall aroma a fresh rain touch.Palate is carbonated but very full.Flavors are defined and clean.Sweet,FRUITY,roasted, and vinous mouth flavors are followed by a defenition spicy/hoppy/alcohol finish.I havenít had this for over a year and my taste has changed.
