Commercial Description:
Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

Cola. Tastes Like cola. Don’t care what you say, this is like a combination of Coke and Dr. Pepper. Maybe a little grapejuice at the end.

(11/1/08) Bottle at Blue Palms in Hollywood. Dark brown color. Aroma of malt, some caramelized brown sugar and some plums. Malty sweet flavor with some sugariness, some fruitiness, very subdued roasted notes and yeasty spicy notes. Finish is slightly drier. Highly carbonated mouthfeel. A well made Belgian Strong Ale.

2008 Bottle - Pours a frothy brown with a small tan head...aroma is like champagne, yeast and a bit of banana...flavour similarly had a dry champagne mouthfeel and effervesense, belgian clove and coriander on the back end with some sweet vinous malt...I think one of the unibroue best...

Pours a very deep dark brown, about 2” tan head. Aromas of grass, esters (faint fruit). Mouth feel is medium body, slightly sticky. Initial taste is somewhat dry, hint of alcohol soaked sweet cherries, hint of dark chocolate, maybe a touch of caramel, carbonation is noticeable, slightly warming finish. Finish is sticky dry, fairly sweet, very pleasant.

Pours dark reddish brown, smelled like deli meats and cheese? Tasted fine! Dark fruits, roasted malts, caramel, spicey, yeasty, little vinous.

Pours a super dark reddish brown (into a chalice, seemed much lighter as it reached the bottom)with a large foamy peach tan head that has poor retention but fades to a nice thick skin. Aroma is cherry, lime, plum, spicy yeast, citrus hops, and black tea. Flavor is unique and interesting, yeasty orange glazed dinner rolls up front, a little roast, caramel, dark chocolate covered cherries, fresh rye bread, belgian yeast spiciness, a musty earty note and some funk. FInish is pepper spice, orange zest, citrus hops and some mellow sort of old tasting bitter hops and a sort of spicy, citrus, roast and chocolate aftertaste. Body is light to medium with a great fizzy carbonation level (not too heavy or or light bubbles, just the right intensity) and a slightly sticky feel on the lips. This is really a fantastic beer,

Pours a very dark brown with some reddish notes in the light. A frothy white head forms when poured and has a medium carbonation level. The aroma reminds me of a very strong red wine, lots of fruit notes, some cherry and plum, mixed with some caramel malt tones. Flavor has a lot of dark plum and cherry notes, some spicy flavors, sweet caramel malt appears to be there as well but it’s not overwhelmingly present. The light mouth feel really emphasizes the alcohol present in this beer. Overall a great beer from a great brewery.
