Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2005 Wow. Striking aroma of sweet fruit (berries, bananas) and caramel with some citric acidity or maybe green apple. High, fizzy, champaign-like head, dissipates quickly. Beautiful dark brown, slightly hazy. A fantastic mix of flavors, from banana to plum, sweet malt, some roast, a little spice, etc. Very pleasant and lasting aftertaste. Very mellow and enjoyable. Savor it.

Brown colour. Head dissipates fast. Wonderful complex aroma! Chocolate, bubblegum, orange peel, cowberries and even a touch of lambic! After all that the flavour is a bit of a disappointment! Sweet and warming, a bit like a young port wine.

Re-rate: Well, ten months of drinking can really change your understanding of beer. I still really enjoy this beer, but the initial 4.8 is a touch high. There are so many things to find in this beer. Plum, cherry, anise, sour apples, some nice spice and a hint of yeast. Very well done, indeed. 12/20/2001: My first impression of Unibroue, and I was highly impressed. I loved the fruit. Oh, and the head, marvelous. Excellent Belgian Strong syle.

Dark brown with a big tan head. Wonderful fruity alcoholic aroma. Very malty finish with just the right amount of carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. A fine Belgian Ale.

Massive thick head. Dark brown suagr color. Don’t see much comparison to a port here. Nice complex nose with an interplay between light tones of fruit with more heavy spices of pepper, caramel, and cinammon. Extremely smooth, the alcohol is barely noticable. Musky dark fruit flavors - raisins, bananas, nuts - dance on the tongue. This is a good Belgian-style ale.

What a great belgian style beer, and from canada, to boot! It’s a nice dark malty ale, with some definite caramel and raisin overtones. I agree with earlier comments - i don’t see any resemblance between this and a port wine, but it’s fantastic anyway!

Beer Markt 2002 October. Yup, after Cést What we had food and next was Beer Markt. Nice beer to finalize night Great look, dark amber , huge great looking head , one of the best looking beers I had . I found that it was also a bit cherry, fruity and nicely warming.

Nice sweet, rich malty flavor full of fruit flavors. A bit too much carbonation for this style. (Only thing I can say bad.)

Deep dark in color, rich fruity malt nose. Very complex flavor, slight hop in the mid-palate. Excellent beer for this style

Dark, surprisingly easy ale with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Very much a Belgian - from Canada!
