UPDATED: FEB 11, 2003 Spritzy grapes and soda-like flair combine with leather notes and hints of alcohol and cheese and lift themselves above a plum colored vibrancy with glorious thin brownish suds coating the glass superbly with each aroma-lifting swirl…strong yeast and malt interplay with grape tartness…restrained sweetness and nice subtle yeasty spiciness seem to sing in complete harmony with slight but delectable dusty mustiness adding to the glorious complexities that live within this here trios pistoles.

Very spicy and fruity - cherry - tastes like a well rummed cherry cola in fact. Not very beery.

Excellent, complex beer. Right in the middle of my favorite Unibroue beers. Complex flavor, but still pretty mellow, with a decent alcohol nose.

Wow. Head is initially thick but goes down fast. Aroma is that of fruit. somehow reminded me a little of raisin cinnamon breakfast pastry. alcohol content very well hidden. i couldn’t keep my hands off this one.

Murky is right...Brown appearance. Lots of particles, and great lil things floating around. Aromas of raisons and dark fruit, oak, vanilla. Vinous all the way through, alcohol and full bodied. This is great stuff, no doubt about it, a classic!

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2007 Head is large and brown, however it quickly dissipates. Color is a dark unfiltered cloudy brown. Aroma is fruity. This beer has a very unique taste. Initially the fruit dominates the tastebuds but then their is a hint of grain. Palate is fruity.

I enjoyed this one... quite similar to blue label chimay in its appearance and flavor; wonderful yeast aroma with subtle hoppiness and flavors of plum, raisin and spice... quite tart with slight roasted malt to give it that that full, rich flavor that only a belgian strong ale can deliver. Delicious.
