Commercial Description:
Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

12oz. Bottle Best Before: 11-30-03 Poured into a Corsendonk Christmas Ale glass a very nice cloudy reddish brown color, nice carbonation, a very quick fizzy tannish head, not much sticky lacing on this one. The nose is very nice though, malty, lots of figs, plums, raisins, with some yeast and spices. The taste is malty, with some nice yeast notes, the dark fruits kick-in very nicely, with some spicyness. Medium body. Very drinkable, this brew has got to be close to maybe 8 years old, not sure when Unibroue produced this one, but it is already close to 5 years beyond the expiration date. Still very tasty. I have a few more bottles left, YEAH

Tulip Glass from bottle. Thin white head resting on top of its deep walnut color. Sweet fermented red fruit flavor matching its sweet aroma. Great beer, with a crisp foamy mouth feel.

Deep dark brown pour with a nice fluffy off-white head. Wonderful malty aroma with hints of fruit. Flavor is dark and malty with fruit and wine tastes galore.Extremely easy drinking for a beer of 9%. Outstanding

750 ml dated 10/01/10. Very dark, but held to the light, it is reddish and not opaque. Great dark fruity aroma. Body is not as rich as I wold have though, and with a fair amount of fizz. Taste is malty, plummy and berries, slight chocolate cake. Belgian yeast is evident. Dry finish. Terrific.

Bottle @ Coles, Buffalo NY. Cant believe I havn’t rated this yet. Deep dark pour. Aromas of malts, dried fruit. Plumy, winey mixed in with malts. Incredibly drinkable. Nice medium body; not too heavy. Great beer

12oz bottle: Appearance is pitch black with quick fading off white head, aroma of spices and hints of plumb and roasted malt, flavor has tons of spices in it and a little bit fruity with a light body, really like this belgian style ale.

Pours a clear, dark brown with a lasting tan head. Aroma was very inviting. Mainly rich malts and a nice fruityness. I smelled mostly grapes and other dark fruits. Flavor was really rich and had great mouthfeel. Medium-to-full bodied with nice carbonation.

I would go on record to say this is one of the best belgian’s I’ve ever had. It’s fruity, dark, and hauntingly inviting. it’s also a great brew to have to start the new year. Cheers!
