Commercial Description:
Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

I’ve tried at least twice now, and I frankly just don’t get this beer. Dark brown pour with bubbly white head; overcarbonated in the way nearly all Unibroue beers tend to be. Dark fruits, cloying Belgian sugar and a floral/perfumy smell and taste I just don’t like. Reminds me of the perfume in the (unused) cat litter we buy Cloying. I try, but I just don’t appreciate this beer.

Deep brown in color with a nice tan head. Aroma was a classic Belgian with yeast, spice, and cloves. Flavor was yeast, spice, malts, nutmeg, and dark fruit. This had a nice malty mouthful. I could feel the bubbles run across my tongue with the initial taste. Starts sweet and finishes with a toned down sweetness. This is the third time that I have tried this one. nice sipping beer after a long week at work

bottle thanks again to my girlfriend. this poured brown with a nice off-white head. aroma of fruit, bread, butter, and some floral notes. flavor of alcohol and clove. medium body and high carb. pretty much the same as the other unibroue beers.

I’m confused by the high ratings for this beer. It comes off as a generic, bland brown ale, the only flavor resembling stale bread. The alcohol is hidden well, though, but I need more than that out of a beer like this.

Very nice dark yet smooth beer that is easily drinkable. Had a nice spice and strong edge to it though.

Very nice strong beer! Tastes more like wine than a beer, nice fruity smell, great dark color, smooth on the palate. Goes very well with red meat.

Aroma is sweet with smells of dark fruit alcohol and yeast. Dark color with light tan head that disappears quickly. Taste of ripe fruit candied sugar, alcohol, carmel, cloves, and other spices (primarily corriander). Tastes much like a port with a slight sweetness. Tight, almost champagne like bubbles. Nice beer!
