Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

Poured from a bottle. Medium reddish brown color, short lived tan fizzy head. Mild sour malt aroma. Medium sweet and mild bitter flavor with a light finish and a fizzy body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a chalice. The appearance was a nice ruddy brown color with a one finger white foamy head that died within about a minute. It left a nice stringy foamy lacing. The smell had a good amount of raisins, honey, and plums making it fairly sweet. The taste was basically sweet and allowing a decent amount of Belgian spices come in to start to take over as it warmed a bit. On the palate, it sat about a medium on the body and showing that this is more of a sipper and had a good smooth carbonation about it. Overall, I say this was a good Belgian Strong ale well worthy of having again and quite possibly as a nice dessert by itself at the end of the day.

Pours a dark brow with quick fading fluffy white head. Aromas of dark fruit roasted malt spice and a earthy funk. Taste is sweet dark fruit, malt and yeast. Medium body nice carbonation. Best belgian style ale I’ve had besides rocheforte and westveleteren.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip-- Opened the bottle and it foamed over the top before I could get the glass underneath. What’s in the glass is dark, with a tint of darkness. Nice head but doesn’t last, reminds me of a couple of old girlfriends. Dark does not equal sweet except here. Nice sweet aroma. I’d tell you it has a fig aroma and taste but the only figs I’ve ever had were Newton’s so how would I know. Strong sweet taste and you can tell there is alcohol present. Overall a really good beer.

Highly carbonated. Extremely dark appearance. Head dissipates quickly, very active. Light oatmeal and almond flavors, grapefruit, cherry, plum and other dark fruit flavors, malty finish. My new favorite from Unibroue

11/9/2013 Unibroue Trois Pistoles A – 5 – Nice dark murky brown almost black color with a nice half finger head of off white head. Cool Unibroue bottle. Nice lacing left on the glass Aroma – 9 – Really nice crisp belgain yeast smell. Dark fruits – cherrys, strawberries, blackberries, plums, figs. Bready malt. Banana. Smarties, sweet candy sugar. T – 10 – Sweet candi sugar, cherry, strawberry, blueberries, blackberries, plums, figs, bready malts, banana. Very crisp and smooth. Definitely has a very distinct Unibroue taste. Palate – 5 – Light-medium feel for a dark strong ale. Alc covered at 9% (impressive). Aftertaste is bready malt, belgian yeast and banana. But so smooth and crisp. It’s refreshing as hell. O – 19 – It’s really excellent. I can’t find much wrong with this beer. At 9% the alc is completely covered. And bottle conditioned its got a light mouthfeel, no harshness at all.

Pours nearly black with a bubbly light brown head that lasts and lasts. Smells of plum and yeast. Both carry over to the taste, along with alcohol. Just a touch of sourness. Medium mouth with lots of carbonation. The aftertaste doesn’t linger long. This isn’t a bad beer, but it’s not my favorite style.

Pours dark with a thin head. Fruity smell. Light and crisp palatte kinda like cider and bubbly. Can hardly taste the alcohol even though its 9%. Easy to drink slight bitterness but not much. Good beer overall..
