Very dark, ruby colored pour into an oversized wine glass. Nicely balanced aromas, followed by an exceptionally smooth taste. Extremely balanced.
Mouthfeel was like velvet. This went down very easily. I’d give it a 5 on drinkability except the ABV would limit how much you could drink in one sitting. Overall an exceptional beer.

Very dark beer with a nice head which remains until the beer is finished. It smells fruity and a bit yeasty. Notes of spices. Very interesting! You definitely want to taste it. Flavour is beutiful of dark fruits and berries, although the liquorice is what distinguishing the beer most. The spiceness reminds a litte of a stronger wheat beer like the weizen bock Aventinus surprisingly enough. Great! mikey (336), farmington, Utah, USA

The nose was intence with molasses, chocolate, raisins, figs and clove. The taste started very vinous like port combined with chocolate, molasses and raisins. There was a slight roasty aftertaste that merges well with the hops for a slight burnt cider tatse. I’m quite impressed with this one. Excellent! BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 29, 2008 Pours a nice dark ruby/maroon with a pretty thin off-white head. The aroma is of sweet and sour fruits, lots of grape and berries I would say, with a bit of spice in there. The flavor continues to impress with tons of rich fruit flavors coming through, grapes and berries again. I can’t even taste the alcohol. The finish is nice and dry. The mouthfeel is pretty syrupy, but is balance out nicely by the carbonation. Very solid beer overall, I would drink this one any day of the week. hillfiiiiire (284), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 29, 2008 Pours a ruby like hue with a head that stays just around the rim of the glass. It smells like spicy fruits and yeast, but not all that doughy. Spiciness prevails on the tongue with plenty of rich, sweet malts coming through. It finishes dry. It’s very bubbly and light on the palate. A really well done brew. Ported (67), Ontario, Canada

Yeast, bread, spices, as well as some mild berries and port. Slightly syrupy. Lingering after taste. Good, but not great - I prefer La Maudite. I have only had Maudiet and La Fin so far this is the best Unibroue product I have had, but in my opinion There products are more about the hype of the beer rather than the actual quality of the beer.
