mybestfriend (261), Gothenburg, Sweden Mar 23, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy reddish brown colour with a tan head. Aroma is very yeasty and a bit fruity (sweet dried fruits). Flavour is very yeasy (and herby). It also has some earthy notes, some tartness and a harsh taste. But primarily this beer is yeasty. You can feel the alcohol in the finish. I think this beer will be so much better after some years in the cellar. milljam (562), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Mar 23, 2008 Very port-like beer. Deep aroma of dark fruits and sweet malt. Solid flavor of plums, figs and a wine sweetness. Very carbonated. Very good example of a Belgian and definitly enjoyable as an after-dinner or sipping beer in front of a fire. kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA Mar 22, 2008 Mostly large bubble foam, dark brown pour. Obnoxious amount of foam, as is the case form most beligians. Smells like sweet apples and alcohol. Tastes like wild yeast acidic malt, sour ale. Rather light despite the color. More fruity than regular beer. What is it with you people and these belgians?? Oh if anything has 9% alcohol, it must be good right? And this one’s brewed in Canada by a Japanses company? Give me a break. Oh my God, it went down the drain, you know I’m just not in the mood for this shit,
drunk with 2 beers, mediocre apple juice, wine like beer. pantanap (1323), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 22, 2008 bottle that has been sitting inside my closet for way too long.... pours a murky dark caramel brown with a one finger soapy off-white head.... aromas of dark fruit, yeast, and sweet malts.... flavors don’t stray too far from the nose other than the fact that it leaves just a slight bitter finish to it but doesn’t detract away from it. a little too carbonated for my taste and which it was a little more smooth and creamy....a decent bsa. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Mar 21, 2008 Pours a dark dark reddish brown with a healthy big bubbled light tan head. The nose is hard to pick up through the foam. Big fruity Unibroue yeast smell, sometimes it bugs me, but here it works better than in most of their other beers. Raisins and some light dark fruit. A bit sweeter than most of their beers and a bit fuller on the malt bill. Alcohol, hidden. Creamy, with robust small bubbled carbonation. The flavor is in line with the nose, though the alcohol pops out quite a bit . Sweet estery goodness. The apple pops back a bit, the banana up. This has some nice dark malt complexity. But it plays well with a chewy juicy fruit like flavor. Raisin. A bit creamy. Some caramel, a dry floral finish. A small bit of toffee hits in the finish. Better than I thought it would be. smith4498 (829), Miami, Florida, USA Mar 20, 2008 Pours dark brown with off white head. Aromas of fruits, yeast and some citrus. Flavors of sweet dark fruit and malt. Meduim body with a creamy mouthfeel and prickly carbonation. My favorite beer from Unibroue. Vas19 (293), Maryland, USA Mar 19, 2008 Pours black with a thick tan head. Highly carbonated. Nose is yeast and citrus even though it doesnt look like it would be. Very smooth beer. Very fruity but im having a really hard time putting my finger on exactly what. Hides it’s alcohol really well. Fun to drink. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Mar 19, 2008 Pours black with a tall, frothy tan head. This is a very carbonated beer. Aroma of yeast and citrus, wit ha few other fruity notes. Very smooth and fruity all the way through. Almost like spiced apples dominating a fruit salad that ends with a sweet hoppiness. Very tasty and complex, but hard to identify any dominating character out of the fruit.
