Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

NIce pour, perfect head opaque dark anber. Wonderful scents here, plum cinnamon clove. Mouthfeel is perfect for easy drinking, thinner than expected. Tastes of slight plum and spice with a nice warming toasty roasted finish. Carbonation is just right, not too many bubbles. Very nice, Thanks Dave R.!

A very good Belgian styled beer. Heavy in alcohol without that aggressive burn. Dark yet some spice and fruit flavours, not just all malt. Very nice!

Deep brown pour, creamy off white head. Nose is herbs, coco, wood, and hint of cherries. Bittersweet. Middle is malt, smoke currants. Finish is smoky and sweet.

Really good. Big bold flavours of yeast, raisins, plumbs, figs, burnt caramel and toffee, brown sugar, and malts.

Malty with a little sweetness. Not highly carbonates but still fizzy. Just OK, nothing I think I’ll buy again..

Pours murky, muddy brown. Raisins, and plum dominate the aromas. Palate is thick and slightly sticky. Tastes are the aforementioned raisins and plums, but some up front mint is on the tongue too. Maybe a bit of sweet molasses on the swallow. A good solid craft brew, but the hyperbole swirling around this one, exceeded the actual experience of drinking it.

3/22/15 (Bottle) - Excellent dark pour with a nice white tan pillow head. Several fruits including raisins, cinnamon as well as caramel and others. Very pleasant taste, light texture and mild carbonation, but heavy kick and ABV - you feel it after drinking.

From a 12 ounce bottle into a Trappist glass. Pours a deep brown with a tad of head. Barely illuminates when held to a lamp. Nutty, fruity nose. Taste is some kind of tree fruit that fades well. Not too sweet. Not too shabby either. Note: this is compared to port, which is nauseatingly sweet for me. This beer is nowhere near the ports I have tried, only in minuscule flavor maybe. Don’t let the comparison be off-putting please.

Bottle from Drinks of the World, Geneva. Pours deep brown with a cream head. Sweet aroma of raisin, port and caramel. The taste is rich and fruity with similar flavours, port especially. Spiciness to it as well. Tasty stuff.
