3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home.
Appearance: Off-white head dissipates immediately. Lots of fizzing afterwards. Perhaps I pour bad? No lacing. Dark brown / cola color.
Aroma: Dark fruit, vinous, ester. Reminiscent of a dubbel/quad meets port. Some complexity.
Taste: Port. Dark fruits. Quite sweet, some clove. A hint of tang.
Palate: Medium/full body. Dry finish. Lively carbonation. Mouth-coating, a little slick.
Overall: This is my third time with this, but first review. I remember it being ... well, just "more" the last time. Lush, full-bodied, a delight to sip through the night with friends. I’m splitting the difference in the overall rating from those last times: (14+18)/2 = 16.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz foiled bottle poured. Pours midnight black with a lasting cloudy head. Mild dark fruit aroma with some plum and spice. Very flavorful with some grape, dark fruit, and a ton of spice. Slightly tart as well. Well worth the low cost. Great beer.

Dark mahogany colour with ruby notes, moderate sized beige head which disappears quickly; aroma of candy sugar, overripe fruits, yeast, some herbal liqueur notes and alcohol in the background; taste of toasted sugar, dried fruits, vanilla; herbal notes and spicy aftertaste - excellent Belgian strong ale from the new world

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Near black pour/ red in light. Small, dense khaki cap. Aroma is roasty with a little funk. Not getting the fruits it boasts on the label. Flavor is slightly fruity, toasted malt, roasty, and yeasty. High quality brew. Nice rich body.

Pint at Epcot during Food and Wine Expo. Poured into a plastic pint cup. Dark opaque color. Aroma of roast and dry fruit. Taste more of the same, with a bit of roast. Very enjoyable.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 oz bottle, poured into a snifter at room temperature.
A: Pours a deep, dark, rich red-brown, rather like a well-buffed, well-aged cherry wood desk, while forming an impressively thick head of just barely off-white foam. Holding the beer to daylight reveals faint ruddy highlights in an otherwise cloudy brown delicious-looking mass. Even after minutes of dissipation, the head remains as a half-finger cap atop the brew.
S: Diabolically sweet, as one might expect from reading the side of the pack. Dark fruits swirl about a dance floor in the arms of candi sugar and that Unibroue yeast, to the background tune of sweet caramel malt. Plums, grapes, raisins, and cherries intermingle with one another, and there’s no shortage of dark bready hints as well, from pumpernickel to rye.
T: Oh, a heady, heady brew this is for a malthead with a yen for yeast! The nose promised all and lied about none of it. The flavor profile explodes from the moment it passes the lips through the finish, all the various notes in harmony. The dark fruits swirl about a palate of sweet dark breads and candi sugars, with no one or even group of flavors taking center stage. The flavors remain balanced and strong through the finish, lingering sweet and sticky on the tongue.
M: Creamy and sticky, with a medium carbonation that fills it out nicely.
O: Unibroue knows its Belgian ales, that is indisputable. This is one of the finer offerings along those lines I’ve had, and I come back to it time and again. Should I ever get to Belgium itself to sample ales from the source, my opinion may change, but until then - bravo, Quebecois!

(Bottle) Smells slightly funky. Pretty dry. Nice! But I would say fairly average dark Belgian.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
BOTTLE 341ML from CH-303.
Look: opaque dark brown, biggish beige head.
Aroma: rich sweet and tart dried fruits, oxidized wine, wine barrel, spicy coriander notes, hints of nuts, some light alcohol notes,
Taste: light fruity sweetness, winy, very light alcohol. The body is light but is fine. What it is lacking is more spice and heat from the alcohol. Excellent otherwise!

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Best aroma I have ever smelled - sweet citrus mixed with trippel. Pour is brownish black with small lasting head. Taste is sweet caramel with an orange aftertaste. No bitterness or bite whatsoever - totally smooth. Wow, is this a mind-blowing beer.a Pl
