Nephilium (433), Ohio, USA Sep 26, 2007 Strong aroma of anise on this one, which doesn’t bode well for me, as I hate anise. Very dark brown in appearance, almost opaque, with just some light peeking through the edges of the glass. A thin white head, and some sediment are visible in the glass. Flavor is of dark fruits, just a hint of anise. Fairly long slightly sweet finish. Not a bad beer, but not something I’ll pick up on my own.
scola21 (2), , New Jersey, USA does not count Oct 10, 2008 Pours well with small head and opaque brown color.full body, thick feel, average carbonation, long finish. Slight bitter aftertaste but pleasant taste. Naka (425), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 8, 2008 Pours an extremely dark brown color with a thick light beige head. Dissipates after a few seconds. The nose is dark roasted nuts, brandy, alcohol, plums, and maybe even some chocolate. The first things I notice about this is the rich body. Very creamy mouthfeel. There is some strong dark fruit flavors, a pretty pronounced alcohol flavor, a nice yeast undertone and a good bitter lingering flavor. Well balanced. Couldn’t have too many, but that is probably better with a 9 % ABV. Pyobon (170), Sydney, Australia Oct 7, 2008 Bottle. Very dark brown, almost black with excellent dense head. Pleasant somewhat fruity aroma with hints of marmalade and raisins. Medium body with wonderfull carbonation. Somewhat fruity refreshing foretaste with a rich aftertaste that verges on cloying, almost balanced with some bitterness. A great beer. hirigalzkar (46), Stockholm, Sweden Oct 5, 2008 Bottle. Black with a small but thick head. Kind of shy but nice fruity aroma. Wonderfull taste! Sweet like a belgian blonde and elegant like a barley wine. Complex, yet easy to drink. Sweet and choclatey. Mike_B (12), Canada Oct 3, 2008 Brun foncé rougeâtre avec un gros collet qui descend rapidement.
Goût de chocolat noir, raisins et alcool avec une légère amertume.
