Burnt caramel aroma with plum and berries.Opaque and cloudy darkest brown with large tan head that diminished slowly with marginal lacing. Flavours are a celebration in the mouth sugar sweet malty caramel, orange, spice, berries and a lasting sensation of liquid chocolate with just a little tartness catching the edges of the tongue to contrast. Mouthfeel is velvet-smooth and quite thick and rich. This is a perfect dessert drink or something to be savoured as an evening drink. I've been saving this bottle and just popped it open to celebrate the completion of my first all-grain brew session. It was the perfect choices and I can feel my spirits awakening. Bottle.

Aug 19, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a murky dark brown with a soap scum head and light lacing. Nose is sweet malt, dark fruits and brown sugar. Taste is figs, dates, caramelized sugar, yeast and a slight bitter finish. Medium mouth feel with carbonation that’s prickly on the tongue. Hides the alcohol well but very warming, even after a few sips. A nice enjoyable strong ale that, as per their commercial description, is very port wine-like.

Aug 17, 2008 pours a orange shade of woody dark brown with some yeasty clumps at the bottom. fluffy almond colored head cloaks the glass with foam as it slowly retreats. immense yeast aroma is savory at times... spice, wood, very soft camp fire smell, dates, raisins and a touch of alcohol. tastes like an oxidized red apple covered with REAL caramel, cinnamon and lots of yeasty dryness. it’s sweet without being over sweet. it leaves an aftertaste that reminds me of fake sugar. medium to full body with a soft velvety mouth feel...

Aug 16, 2008 Watery, undefined and too sweet. Bottom line, Unibrew should have put as much artistry into this beer as they did the label.

Aug 15, 2008 Oh those dark fruits. Just discovered this brewery through a chance run-in with La Terrible, but I’m going to keep an eye out for it in the future. Happy time.

Aug 12, 2008 Pours black like strong black coffee with a one-finger head the color of cappuccino foam. Strong aromas of raisins, molasses, and alcohol. On the tongue it is a bit sweet, with a subtle tannic quality and no shortage of alcohol heat. Roasted malts are apparent. Flavor is somewhere between a ripe fig and a plum. No hops to speak of really. Medium to full body with a long finish. This would go great with a plate of over-ripe figs and creamy goat cheese.
