COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

12-oz bottle. Ap - Pours very dark with an uneven, foamy and dissipating creamy head. Little to no lacing. Ar - Dark fruits are noticeable right away which lead to an interesting earthy aroma. There’s definitely a bit of noticeable alcohol and anise in the nose as well. Also present are bread and yeast. Very complex. You really have to dig for the aroma though it is not overpowering. T - Immediately, those Belgian yeasty spices are very accessible with flavors of clove and coriander being most easy to recognize. The beer is rich with dark dates and sweet raisins. The finish is long with the spices continuing to give and give. P - Texture is oily. It collects on the roof of your mouth like deer tallow. Swirling the beer in the glass reveals a real slippery texture as well: zero retention. Medium bodied. O - A beautiful beer. Different and exciting. Another good offering from Unibroue.

Pours nearly black with a bubbly light brown head that lasts and lasts. Smells of plum and yeast. Both carry over to the taste, along with alcohol. Just a touch of sourness. Medium mouth with lots of carbonation. The aftertaste doesn’t linger long. This isn’t a bad beer, but it’s not my favorite style.

Pours dark with a thin head. Fruity smell. Light and crisp palatte kinda like cider and bubbly. Can hardly taste the alcohol even though its 9%. Easy to drink slight bitterness but not much. Good beer overall..

12 oz. bottle. Pour is a deep Crimson brown, hazy, with a khaki head no lacing. Smell is dark deep roasted dark fruits, citrusy spice and yeast. Taste is massive dark fruits: plum, cherries, fig. Yeasty spiciness which is maybe a bit assertive, but does cleanse the palate for the next sip. Overall a solid Belgian.

750 ml pour best before 5-26-14..fairly dark brown color that is really only visible when in the light..ultimately left a tan ring head resting atop..good amount of carbonation and sound after some cork struggle..aroma is indeed ripe fruit with plum..black cherry and spices abound..mouthfeel is light-medium bodied with really no trace of the abv..does have noticeable vinous presence and an overall easy beer to enjoy with a dry finish that manages to coat the palate..tasty belgian dark strong ale

A dark brown beer with a small tan head. The aroma is fruity, esters, yeast. The flavor is berries and sugary roasted malts.

Bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy dark brown color with small creamy tan-like head, good lacing and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of dark fruits, wine, caramel, yeast and subtle alcohol. Taste starts with sweet toasted malt and burnt sugar, follows refreshing yeasty and fruity with warming alcoholic mouthfeel and light bitter finish. Full body, creamy texture and lively natural carbonation in palate. Smooth, rich and potent brew...

Flavors of blackberries, tart cherries, bread, cola and white cake with hints of yeast and clove. Great beer, well balanced and unique.

Pours a hazy dark brown with a foamy off-white head. Has a strong aroma of dark fruits. Taste is dominated by dark fruits, and there is a touch of bitterness in the finish. Has a full body feel. Overall this is quite good, though I feel as if there could be a touch more to the flavor. Maybe a second try will be more favorable.
