Poured a ligther golden color with a small sized white head. Aromas and tastes of graininess with some citrus. Some sweet maltiness in the tastes as well. acrdz (4297), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 6, 2007 Updated: Aug 9, 2007Draft glass Consumed at Union Barrel Works, July 2007 Lightly hazy unfiltered yellow appearance, perhaps 10-20% opaque. Bit of a sweaty nose, with dominant aromas of musty grains, some corn, some dust, overall it smells pretty good. Wet and nicely crisp on the tongue, then turning quickly frothy, biting, snappy grains and corn hit the tongue along with a subtle creamy yeast flavor. My first impressions are that it’s probably better than any US version I’ve tried. Quite hoppy for a kölsch, and a bit vegetal at times, though I think this comes across because of the abundant hop use. Otherwise, it’s a solid kölsch, very refreshing, and well-made. DocLock (4102), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 16, 2007 Draft. Medium gold pour with whitish head. Aroma is pale malt, subdued hopcitrus, mild honey. The taste is pale malt, some honey and hopcitrus. Nicely done.
