Biddle_Brau (135), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Jun 15, 2008 Nice dopplebock. Poured brown with a malty aroma and flavor. Had a nice clean finish with hops only to keep this brew from being overly sweet. Sampled at Stoudts 17th Annual Microfest: June 2008 bubbleflubber (648), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Mar 23, 2008 On draught at the brewer. Amber-mahogany pour whose head initially diminishes to a ring, then to nothing. Sweet Belgian sugar nose, with some bread and baker’s notes. Candi sugar upfront, with bready and caramel malts, some roasted esters, and a tiny peppering ABV-bitter back. The mouthfeel is syrupy. Decent offering. egajdzis (2969), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 5, 2008 Poured a lightly hazy, mahogany color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of baked bread, caramel malts, light cocoa, nuts, roast, and a bit of sweet chocolate. Taste of roasted, toasted malts, light smoke, nuts, and toffee, with a bit of fruitiness in the finish. TomDecapolis (2418), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 4, 2008 Thanks to weeare138 for sharing this growler. Pours a translucent ruby amber with a medium bubbly off white head. Aroma of toffee, nuts, malty sweetness, some caramel and a touch of dark fruits. Flavor of toasted bready malt, some hop bitterness (more than expected), nuts, caramel and a touch of some dark fruits. BillKismet (1410), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 28, 2007 Light mahogany color with a crisp ring of head. Probably my favorite of their brews. Easy malting, somewhat similar to a strong ale, not a layered complexity of malt balls and other malts typical of the style. Nice warming quality and easy breadiness.
