pleasant enough schwarz...lite in body and flavor, but what’s there is well balanced between dry, roasted malts, coffee and toffee and earthy hops. I’d get again.

JDBaker11058 (1274) - Maryland, USA - MAY 16, 2014
Appearance: dark brown, lighter brown edges, creamy medium tan head, decent lacing. Aroma: lightly roasted coffee, cocoa powder, hint of licorice and brown bread. Taste: light, toasty malts, cocoa, light coffee, hint of smoke, grass, and tobacco. Finish: slight mellow, earthy bitterness over lingering dry coffee. Notes: Quite excellent. Palate was light and clean, flavors were right on point. On draft at Roots Markey in Olney.

Maxbier (268) - Maryland, USA - APR 28, 2014
Light slightly roasted malt aroma, hint of coffee and coco. Very dark brown, depending on lighting may appear black. Light tan head. Well rounded chocolatey malt flavors. Much lighter malt character and mouthfeel than Union's Altbier or scotch ales. Distinct lager feel. Slight hop bitter in the finish. Tasty, refreshing, "clean" schwartzbier.

Medium sized tan head with good retention and a decent, lasting lace. Almost black with a slight ruby hue. Nose is grainy malts, light roast, bready. Light bodied with a tame carbonation, little slick. Light roast and grain flavors, not too sweet, little chalky, tangy. Lightly sweet finish thats quick, watery. Draft/growlered from statelineliquors.

Draft at the brewery - thanks to my girlfriend. Poured a dark brown color, pretty close to cola color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was nice roasted malts, some sweet caramel. Flavor was nice, roasted, sweet malt notes. Pretty easy to drink, and pretty tasty.
