This generously hopped pale ale is a strike in your mouth! Brewed with lots of Pacific Northwest & New Zealand hops this beer is ten frames of big citrus and tropical fruit aroma and flavor. A strong malt backbone rounds it out and makes this pale ale a delight for the senses. The pins may be small but the flavor is huge! In our town, we roll Duckpin—a true Baltimore original.

Location: 12 oz can from a Harris Teeter in Baltimore, 11/11/14

Aroma: The nose has citrus and tropical fruity notes, some pale malts, and a little pepper/spice
Appearance: Its orange in color, mostly cloudy, with a small off-white head and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: Clean and hoppy, with some fruity flavors, a light sweetness, and a clean, mid-bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, pretty easy drinking, with average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I picked up a 6-pack of this for the hotel room, and it made for a nice, drinkable pale ale. Didn’t finished the whole pack, so I saved this one for a real time rate. I enjoyed this.

Pours clear gold with a medium white head. Aroma has nice floral hoppiness...soft melon and kiwi. Flavor follows suit...nice earthy/rindy bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and slightly resinous with a dry earthy/bitter finish that hints at cracker/biscuity notes. Very nice.

Can. Pours a clear gold body under a small frothy white head that faded to a thin film. The nose is pretty nice, lots of fresh and bright hoppiness, especially for just an APA. A nice mix of floral and tropical fruits over a clean pale malt base. The flavor is light on the malt, leaving the hops to do most of the talking. Nicely dry maltiness, bright, with a clean bitterness on the back end. Light bodied and very easy drinking. I think I’d make this a staple in the fridge if it were available locally. Right up there with Sly Fox Phoenix Pale Ale. Pretty delicious.

Keg at Cardinal Tavern Baltimore, Conical Pint, $5. Pours clear deep golden with lower white foam. Decent meringue lacing. Nose is orange peel, nutty, bready, flaxseed. Taste isn’t too heavy, not sticky, not too nutty, lots of flaxseed, high orange peel bitterness. Long grassy hop bite. Not bad.

"slightly fruity aroma and flavor from the NZ hops, but ample bitterness and citrus for the style as well. Not too shabby all-around from this seemingly hit and miss brewery. "

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate citrus, light pine, and a touch of lemon peel. It pours a transparent golden-orange with a one finger eggshell head that has decent retention. A nice soapy sheet is left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate citrus with some lightly sweet apricot. The finish has light-moderate grapefruit, lighter pine, and a touch of lemon peel. It’s light-medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Overall, a really solid Pale Ale that would be great to drink on a regular basis out of cans in the summer if it was available here. I’m really surprised by the average score.

From can. Really nice hoppy aroma. A bit of orange and apricot, pine resin. Medium amber clear with haze, topped with off-white foamy lacing head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Starts moderately dry with light malt sweetness. Light biscuit. Carbonic acidity and fizzy tang. Big hop bitter throughout with bitter finish and after.

Can from friend, Amber with light head, Ok as Pale ale, quite big and bitter but not aromatic, like a big English type, one draw back was very fizzy with lots of carbonation
