COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This generously hopped pale ale is a strike in your mouth! Brewed with lots of Pacific Northwest & New Zealand hops this beer is ten frames of big citrus and tropical fruit aroma and flavor. A strong malt backbone rounds it out and makes this pale ale a delight for the senses. The pins may be small but the flavor is huge! In our town, we roll Duckpin—a true Baltimore original.

On draft. Complex aroma - this seems to be a consistent strong point of this brewery - lemon peel, slight malt, earthiness, certainly some cannabis. Flavors fit the same bill. Quite refreshing, given the hop-forward flavor. I may be overrating this because it’s local and cool, but whatever. Distinctive, well-brewed beer that the community should be proud to represent.

This is a very fine APA. It has great hop aroma, and a nice very balanced taste. Very sessionable. Great first beer from this great new brewery.

12oz can: pours a clear deep golden with a clingy-lacing white head. Has a lightly sweet toasted pale malty nose with fresh resiny citrus hops. Starts with good fullness and a clean malty sweetness well balanced with juicy hop flavor and resiny bitterness before a crisp bittersweet finish. Very well hopped and quite drinkable.

12oz can at Max’s Hop Fest 2013. Pours a clear orange with some frothy, white head. Nose is earthy, lemon, pithy, vinous, some white grape. Flavor is nice, herbal, chive, scallion, malt, orange, honey, spicy onion. Full, herbal finish. Very nice. I would love to get sixers of this in DC.

Draft at tugos. Pours clear copper with a medium sized white head. The aroma has a mix of floral notes, light pine, some citrus, some grass. The taste has a fresh hop type jump with grass, a nice medium bitterness, and some grapefruit to balance. Impressive.

On tap Metropolitan Pours a hazed golden orange with a thick creamy head that fades to a thin collar and beautiful intricate webs of lace. Well balanced nose of pale and biscuit malt, NZ hops, lemon, citrus resin and grass. Medium thick creamy and chewy body, well carbonated with an aggressive dry and mildly bitter finish. Flavor starts with a strong earthy and grain presence before blending with citrus rind and resiny hops. Mildly tropical fruit sweetness mid palate, but the earthy and resiny flavors dominate. A more traditional APA than the recent trend of APAs that are actually IPAs. On par with DC Brau's Public (I might prefer this on first impression) and will be a vital local beer once it starts getting canned. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
