Draught (Regal (JDW), Cambridge)
Woh - this is a time machine! I’m back in the 80s. Every beer tasted like this back then. A dull bitter, undergrowthy and a bit minerally. Not a bitter for me. Not really any brewing flaws, it’s just a style that doesn’t do it for me.

Pint in the Salt Cot ( JDW)
Malty aroma and taste. Slight citrus in the finish. Looks good and as usual for this pub, well kept but nothing much to distinguish it from other beers of this style. In saying that, it was just what I was looking for today.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) on the 21st February 2015. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear tawny in colour with a thin white head. slight malty aroma with warm yeasty bread overtones present. Thin weak mouthfeel and poor lacing. Mixed malts give a mild maltloaf base with hints of berry fruit but too weak to identify. Dusty earthy flavour to the hop prickle giving a weak bitter aftertaste. Finish is malty but rather weak as it runs out of legs - needing more oomph as you would think this was more like a 3.6% instead. A poor session ESB, lacking in body and depth of flavour.
