GABF 2010. Pours a nice clear deep amber with a thin head. Aroma is pretty hoppy- grapefruit, citrus, orange, pine with good clean caramel, not too sharp crystal malts. FLavor is toast, caramel, toffee, nuts, big citrus, pine mint- good hoppiness all around- kind of just an imperial red, west coast style. Nice.

A: The pour is a dark copper color with a fluffy off-white head and plenty of visible carbonation bubbles in the glass. S: A nice balance of sweet, caramel malts and citrus hop notes. Just a touch of pine is in there as well. Perhaps some vanilla and fruit. T: The hop flavor is solid and nicely compliments the maltiness. A bit of brown sugar, caramel, and vanilla. Grapefruit comes through from the hops as does a mild bitterness. M: The body is medium with a fairly substantial carbonation for a barleywine/imperial red. D: There’s nothing bad to say about this one, really. Good balanced flavors, nicely bittered and enjoyable all around.

Pour is a dark red with a small white head. Aroma is of toffee and of roasted malts. Flavor is a decent roasted malt with with a bit of caramel and a nice helping of chocolate toward the end. I don’t know if this style needs an "imperial" version but this is tasty and the alcohol is hidden well.

Pours a hazy amber bronze with some suspended yeast and a clingy-lacing froth of off-white head. Aroma of fresh resiny piny hops and rich sweet toasty caramel malt with a touch of honey. Starts with good fullness and sweet toasty caramel maltiness with a smooth bittering hop balance and resiny flavor before a drier bittersweet finish. Very drinkable with decent complexity which hides the alcohol well.

12oz bottle pours cloudy amber/red with thin tan head which stays. Aroma is very sweet, caramel, butterscotch, floral, earthy. Taste nutty, butterscotch, slightly metallic, toffee aftertaste. Nice thick body. Enjoyable.

Brown red color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, citrus fruits, some toffee, and floral hops. Taste of citrus, grass, pine, caramel, nuts, and light alcohol in the finish.

aroma is well developed caramel which has taken on a pleasant bitter note, devoid of sugary nastiness. appearance is translucent deep ruby with tiny floating island and half a ring, little to no lacing. flavor is a hint metallic, big caramel bomb with fleeting fruits in close: straw/raspberry. perhaps alcohol esters at work. interesting take on a dull style with substantial ABV to boot, well done.

Aroma of dark rum, caramel and almonds Appearance is brownish red with tan head. Flavor matches the nose; almost reminds me of a Brandywine. Palate is bubbly. Outstanding.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear, deep amber colored body with a finger-width, off-white, creamy head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma has a nice pine with some resin and light florals. Very solid caramel backing with a light bread. Flavor is more the same. Lots of caramels and some bready toffees. Flowery and piney with some earth that leaves a medium bitterness with some resins. A touch of alcohol heat, but very nicely balanced with a medium length aftertaste following a medium-full body and light, creamy carbonation. Overall, a solid beer. Nicely malted with a solid hopping. Good stuff.
