COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Thursday hallmarked our first bottling of another type of long aged oak beer with a variety of microorganisms in play . The beer is still hard for any of us to really define, itís really one of a kind. At 8.5% ABV, it would probably be most akin to a strong Flanderís Brown. A spice blend was involved as well as some dark Belgian Candi Sugar during the kettle boil. That part we controlled. The rest was up to Brettanomyces, Lactic Acid Bacteria, and whatever else decided to visit the fermentation as we left each barrel open to air for an intentional short period of time. As to the name, heís a demon, we named the beer after a demon. Space Dragon was too grade school.

Bottle from cpetrone -thanks, Chris! Dark brown with some reddish hues. Medium low carbonation. Nose was initially wet oak, dark red fruit, light red wine elements, with lots of coconut as it warmed, and other sweet barrels notes. Tart red fruit, charred coffee, tannic. Not a huge dark sour fan generally but this one worked great for me. Complex and tasty.

Bottle from Beechner, yeah thatís right. Pours brown with light ruby hues. Small off white head that leaves some lacing. Funk nose. Solid sourness, berry sweetness, mild vinegar. Medium body, pretty decent.

Bottle @ WWT IV, small sample. Slight hazy copper color, short head. Aroma is quite tart, bit acetic acid, bit fruity. Quite harsh sourness, bit acetic. Not the best.

Bottle at WWT. Almost black with small off white head. Lots of sour berries, balsamico vinegar, miso soup, lots of mint. Quite sour with an umami touch. Unusual beer, but I enjoyed my sample. Donít know if I could drink a lot of this though.

Bottle @ WWT IV, courtesy of kermis. Pours a clear dark brown beer with a very small beige head on top. Aroma is bretty, oaky, and slightly tar. Also some tarty notes. Flavor is bit sour, oaky and has very dry moutfheel. Aftertaste is very sour and tarty with touches of overripe red fruits. Meh, decent.

Bottle @ WWT IV. Opaque brown color, average sized off-white head. Weird aroma and flavor of menthol, toothpaste and sour fruitpeel. No I donít like it, not my thing at all. Bleh.

Bottle shared at WWT IV. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of tart red fruits, big floral notes and a light funk. Flavour is moderate sweet and heavy acidic. Having tried a few upland lambics this is the best for me, but still has that overwhelmingly acidic battery acid palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. In summary, by far the best of a bad bunch.
