Amber with a very large pillowy tan head. Aroma of noble hops, sulfur, toasted pale malt and burnt match. Taste is mild and noble with light skunk, mild citrus and light bitterness. Just not very good.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of queenholly. Thanks! Pours a clear amber color with fine floating particles. Large foamy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of citrus, herbal, pine hops, mild toasted malts. The taste is caramel malts, herbal, pine, citrus hops. Medium bodied. A touch bit on the sweet side, but a nice beer.

12oz bottle pours a clear pale golden/copper with floating particles and a medium off-white head. Aroma is subdued and dry of hops, citrus, and toasted caramel malts. Taste is clean and crisp, dry bitter hops, tropical, with a nice malt balance. Very drinkable!
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Brigadier (2230) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - NOV 29, 2012
12 ounce bottle
Talking to the people at Upland it sounds like this might very well become an annual release. I hope so because it is right up there with Double Dragonfly and Teddy Bear Kisses as a fair priced local option. Grab it while it is still fresh for a phenomenal seasonal.
Aroma / Appearance - The amber brown base hangs in the glass. Lively and vibrant carbonation sparkles like a soft drink as it tries to escape the thick eggshell head. Bright piney hops, orange glaze, and carrots topped with brown sugar ground this in the autumn months.
Flavor / Palate - Sweet pine residue, grapefruit, and citrus linger sip after sip. The first impression is not much but it does not take long for the richness to hang around like a morning fog. The bitterness at the end is not strong enough to be harsh but definitely is memorable. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I’ll be getting more if I can find bottles.

Draft. Poured a clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate citrus hop and small toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. I would recommend this to a freind.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ughsmash (6669) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 20, 2012
Bottled. Poured cloudy medium orange with a creamy, sticky off-white head. Thearoma picked up dank grapefruit and spicy pine hoppage over caramel and bready malts.. a touch on the malty side overall, but solid. The flavor found sweet caramel and fruity notes at the core, with bitter pine resin and floral notes plus peppery alcohol throughout.. sharp on the long finish. Medium-bodied and quite bitter on the palate.. started out with a good feel, but it became too assertive by the end.

from bottle to glass. first im stocked to find an upland hoppy beer not past its prime on the shelf but then again i got it from value market on bardstown road. This beer looked good, your stock standard dark goldenish hue with good clarity and solid 1 finger of frothy white head. the aromas emitting from the glass are amazingly different than any fresh hop beer i have ever drank. I didnt know it was fresh citra till I read it right before this review, I was guessing Cascade as the hop. The smells of lush wild flowers mixed with stabs of strong citrus. The further i get down the glass the more the malt starts to peak through and you get hints of caramelized grain and bits of fruit, hints of liliko’i and grapefruit. The mellow flavors of hops comes through with not much malt character at all. The flavor of the hops lingers long after the sip has vanished and your mouth is salivating for another sip. The feel of this beer is pretty standard for the style with it being a little weak on the back end, would be better with a dryer finish but thats just my opinion. The carbonation is pretty spot on with a lively feel but not enough to increase the bitterness. The bite is smooth and easy for a tortured tongue like mine but i could see it being bitter for the non hop head. Overall this beer was a great score for a 6er for the night and with it being fresh and priced right and having a hop I do enjoy in it, this gets 2 thumbs up.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. A strong skunky hop aroma, citrusy, earthy, pine. A well balanced whole hopped ale. Some astringency. A tasty enough beer.
