COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This traditional American Pale Ale is a combination of the finest Midwestern malts and American Hops, creating a refreshingly crisp, citrusy, and slightly bitter taste. Named for the Greek sun god, Helios Pale Ale is a great choice for those who like a lot of personality and individuality in their beer. Helios was given its name to reflect Upland’s commitment to environmental sustainability, specifically the installation of ten solar water tube panels on the roof of the brewery, which have dramatically reduced the amount of natural gas used to heat water in the brewhouse.

Flanagan’s. Bottle pours gold with an eggshell head. Aroma shows biscuit, grass, and light citrus/florals. Flavor is bready with a touch of honey and a hint of apricot. Overall body is moderate and finishes with light to moderate bitterness.

I really liked this IPA. Clean and crisp, with aggressive citrus hopping. Lots of length, good flavor, and a rich finish.

12 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass, displaying a lightly hazed, orangey gold color, with a fairly persistent, frothy layer of soft white head foam, and wavy lacing that turned web-like as the liquid decreased. The nose was some peach, orange rind, a bit of sweet grain, with sideline notes of foliage & woody stalks, and a bit of plastic. The taste highlighted citrus & pit fruit, with a lingering, citrusy & earthy bitterness, light to medium body, fairly active carbonation, and a bit of dryness to the finish. Nice enough Pale, but didn’t exactly pop for me.

Pours a hazy bronze-gold with a fluffy, rocky eggshell head that settles quickly and leaves some soapy, stringy lace. Nose involves sweet grain, some pine, spicy hops, and peach notes. Fairly sweet, decently bitter. Medium bodied, oily, toasty, finishing toward dry. A decent pale ale, snappy and quenching.

Draft pour at whole foods. Clear orange with no head. Fruity citrus and candy aroma. Apricot lemon and tropical tastes. A little flat but good flavor. Pretty tasty overall

12oz bottle. Pours a clear, lighter orange with a half finger, off white head that laces. Aroma is bright. A blend of new and old hops. Citrus, hop spice, grapefruit, and maybe a bit of pine. Taste is balanced. Mild citrus, resin and pine blended with more traditional, spicy and earthy hops. Short finish. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a semi dry finish. Overall a very refreshing brew. A bit more of a traditional taste. A good everyone beer.

Having at the Indiana Brewer’s Cup. This has me worried for my entry as it won beer of the show last year!? What.The.Fuck? Not Upland’s best beer.

Six-pack from Big Red Liquor. Pours a hazy orange body with an inch of fluffy white head that retains well. Very subtle aroma of citrus and pine. The flavor continues along a mild hop presence, spruce, lightly floral. Medium body and soft-medium carbonation. Just a tad flat, in my opinion. Not bad, but this is a fairly generic pale ale.

On tap. Reddish color with a white head. Hoppy, citrus smell. Taste is smooth, refreshing, pretty good.. Why is this rated so low? I can only imagine it does not translate to bottle well.

Bottle: Clear, bubbly amber-orange with a thick off-white head. Scent is very light....orange, citrus... Orange-peel, bitter-sweet flavor....orange malt. Mild on all accounts..good, yet run-of-the-mill.
