Fortunate enough to have tried this a few times this year, including Zwanze Day ’12 this weekend.
Pours a murky (and honestly ugly) gold-orange hue with a surprising amount of fruity pulp in the mix. We’re talking Homestyle levels of pulp here, not Grovestand craziness.
Pungent aroma of freshly squeezed fruit and funky yeast lets you know this one’s gonna be tart. Slightly oaky. More citrus here than I initially detected.
Fresh tropical fruits lead the way, puckering sourness spurs up as the funky yeast makes itself known. Huge salvo of fruit and acidity bombards my palate. If you don’t love your sours with extra sourness, turn back now.. Flavors get delivered courtesy of a big, full body. Pulpy kiwi solids roll around in my mouth. Finish is a touch watery, though, which is true to its kiwi roots but still slightly disappointing.
The fleshy kiwi particles really surprised me here, as I strongly dislike pulp in my orange juice, though they weren’t prevalent enough to invoke displeasure. Instantly reminded me of Cable Car Kriek, which is the only other sour I’ve consumed that still had fruit solids milling around in the finished product. Definitely my favorite Upland.

Pours a hazy light gold with no head. Aroma of funk, lacto and citrus. Taste follows, a sour bomb

750. Murky gold pour with tons of kimi seed/pulp in the bottom. Flavor is acidic and sour. Slight kiwi and banana if you let it warm as well as vanilla. The pulp and seeds at the end are a eal treat they essentially taste like the beer but 10 times more sour.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 scottyshades (126) - Parkland, Florida, Florida, USA - SEP 20, 2012
A: Pours a transparent straw color with a small white cap.
S/T: Honestly I could not detect kiwi in the nose or flavor. Mostly super tart stone fruits and citrus- lemon and lime mainly, along with a touch of funk. At first sip this is pretty damn tart, it will make your face scrunch. The flavor really emerges as this decants, so give it time.
MF/O: Fizzly carbonation and it’s dry flavor only intensifies the sourness of this beer- it’s like the end of a box of sour patch kids. No kiwi that I could find (kind of disappointing in that way), but overall really good

September 30, 2011 with blankboy, garthicus, gregclow, jerc and mabel. 750ml corked & caged bottle c/o J&K. Gusher, and it has floaties. Murky orange with a big diminishing fizzy off-white head. Aroma - so tart, lush fruity sweet malt backbone [*** at this point jerc caught me licking my phone as some of this spilled on it ***] - lemon, green fruit (don’t ask me what kiwi tastes like) - fruity, acidic, tart - yummm. Taste follows, not as sour as the aroma, more lemon than mystery fruit (8+ for aroma, 8- for taste). Thick, very acidic, lushly carbonated, and a long, dry sour finish - another hom run from Upland.

Bottle shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike, I have been wanting to try this since I first heard of it.
The beer appears hazy and yellow hued, with a small, fizzy, white head.
The aroma is stellar and detectable from a few feet away. Mouth watering lambic-like funkiness and an assortment tropical fruits (though I wouldn’t necessarily have guessed kiwi, had I not known) really heighten my anticipation to taste this long sought after brew.
Outstanding flavor, though perhaps not as exemplary as the aroma. Kiwi really emerges in the flavor, much more so than the aroma. The fruit component is fresh, wonderful, and complex. Delicious.
Carbonation level is a bit high, and the beer is rather zesty on the palate. Nice balance of funk / fruit / sour.
Overall, a terrific fruit lambic. Along with Persimmon lambic, this is my favorite offering from Upland Brewing Company thus far.

Bottled on 12/6/10
Taste on 12/26/11 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle shared at a tasting. Pours pale orange with an average white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is sour kiwi (skin more than flesh) fruit leather with light malt and a pleasant white wine vinegar aroma. The flavor is the same, more kiwi skin than flesh, light malt, sour lemon and vinegar, and an added touch of vanilla. The body is medium and sticky tannic with lively carbonation and a long sour kiwi skin and light vanilla finish.

Fantastic. Dec 2010 bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with small white head and nice carbonation. Very tart, with huge lemon, kiwi, and lime...huge citrus in this regard. A nice finish of hay and funk. Very good. Upland makes some amazing stuff.

22nd November 2009 ChrisOs Kook Tasting. Cloudy orange beer. Low carbonation. Light and only a little bit sour. Something sweet but doesn’t taste much like Kiwi. Turns a little lemony sour at the finish. Drinks easy for a Lambic but where is the Kiwi?
