COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Upland lambics are fermented by wild yeast and aged in oak casks for over a year, which creates a tart, complex beer. We then add whole kiwis, giving the beer enticing aromas and flavors. The beer is bottle conditioned, which adds a zesty and refreshing carbonation. Kiwi Lambic is the perfect drink to share with friends over a plate of good cheese and fresh fruit.

Bottled on 12/6/10
Taste on 12/26/11 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle shared at a tasting. Pours pale orange with an average white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is sour kiwi (skin more than flesh) fruit leather with light malt and a pleasant white wine vinegar aroma. The flavor is the same, more kiwi skin than flesh, light malt, sour lemon and vinegar, and an added touch of vanilla. The body is medium and sticky tannic with lively carbonation and a long sour kiwi skin and light vanilla finish.

Bottle. Sunset-orange with soft haze. Large white bubbles fizzle away quickly. Aroma is intensely funky -- crisp barnyard, hay, unripe pear, sweet kiwi, a splash of white vinegar. More kiwi appears in the flavor, blending with an almost cheesy funk and apple vinegar. Tartness is moderate and lingers for a good long while. The sour critters get in the way of the fruit a bit, and the cheesiness is somewhat distracting. Tasty enough to have a small glass, but not much more.

Pours cloudy straw with no head or lacing. Nose is almost lemon pledge. Flavours of lemon, lots of vingar with lots of sour tart. Really mouth puckering. Taste big sour and light sweetness. Mouth was mouth puckering sour.

A hazed golden murky lambic with no head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with kiwi juice and light lactic notes, light solvent, nice. In mouth, a tart and puckering lambic with kiwi pulp, Epsom salts, light berries, very nice. Bottle at 2014 Ottawa Xmas gathering.

pour is hazy pale amber white a white head. Nose is bright kiwi with faint brett notes. Fruit and tart. Taste has more barrel, lots of fresh sawdust and kiwi behind. Funk is lighter than most uplands but barrel is very present. Finish is extremely tart and has a bit of acetic acid. Body is light and highly carbonated.

Bottle@Sad Fish tasting aka Haarlemmestraat tasting aka Elite tasting aka did Dean do something (stupid) today aka Benzais’ endless triangle travel aka Chris’ Birthday tasting: Bottle: Thanks Chris: Small white head. Hazy yellow colored beer. Aromas of diapers filled with baby poo, acidic vinegar and sour notes. Flavour is acidic vinegar, burning, sour, disgusting and unbalanced! Aftertaste is sour, tart, funky, malt, wood and of course vinegar and a trace of the burn... Medium carbo, tart sour vinegar acid burning unbalanced body, nasty! Anybody saying this is a good Lambic should taste the original Belgian stuff and then come back and say it again, crazy! Not a good introduction to Upland, won’t be tasting anything else from them soon or even ever again! Sorry Chris, thanks for sharing but this is just bad!

Bottle shared @ tasting. Very hazy pale yellow color, small white head. Smells weird, very sour, like the seeds from a kiwi. Tastes like that as well. Incredible sourness, my god, very very acidic. Sour fruits are there but you need a strong stomach to drink more than a sip of this. Dear Lord this is sour. Too much for me.

Sample at the 2014 Infected Chimipalooza on 11/01/2014. Slightly hazy golden color with a medium thin white head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit and funky yeast. Light-bodied with a moderately funky character and flavors of tart kiwi, apples, and herbal yeast. The finish is tart and fruity. Pretty good all around.

Side by side tasting of the Upland Sour Reserve, Raspberry, Strawberry, Blueberry and Kiwi Lambic. Sour Reserve Blend 5: soft sour body, buttery, a tad floral as well 4.1/5 Kiwi: no real kiwi characteristics, extremely sour and lactic 2.9/5 Raspberry: one of the freshest raspberry aromas around. Afterwards all is sour and lactic 3.4/5 Strawberry: aroma is q bit chemical strawberry, the body and taste makes one remind of the Hanssens Oudbeitje, let it be a lot more sour 3.2/5 Blueberry: the nicest and tartest of the "Lambic" series we sampled 3.5/5 These beers are not lambics and should not be called as such. It is obvious that the sour character in this beer comes from lactic fermentation rather than a complex process of different families of bacteria and yeast. The aftertaste of all of the sampled "lambic" serie have a repelling sour finish...
