3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12/12/11/12/11/12

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
bottle. for only being pilsener and black malt i pick up a lot of rounded, chewy dark caramel malt... there’s a roundness and fullness that seems meaty and gelatinous and which i find generally unpleasant, but the milk chocolate (yeast / milk powder note contributing) character is nice. hops are cheesy and pungent in the nose and provide medium buzzing acid and bitterness. lavender is non-existent. decent beer but mostly forgettable.

Cant taste the hops in thisone on draft. IT is pure roasted malt, like a super roasted porter.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by nuplastikk: Pours an opaque black with a full-lacing froth of light brown head. Has a fresh resiny citrus and piny hop nose with a touch of dark malty sweetness. Starts with good fullness and fresh resiny hoppy flavor with a toasty dark caramel malty sweetness before a drier slightly warming bittersweet finish. A true to style and drinkable black IPA.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. This sucka poured inky black with a deep brown head.. this screamed "stout" from the appearance, and I love stout. The aroma picked up greener floral and citrus hoppage over a bed of roasted semi-sweet chocolates.. nutty notes, vanilla, and caramel accented.. outstanding! The flavor found dark chocolate and lesser coffee at the core.. nice roast, but the malts seemed a little stale.. heavy bitterness around, mostly floral and earth, with a little spicy pine.. roasty and bitter on the finish. Medium-bodied with decent balance on the palate.. dry and grainy overall.. very bitter, especially as it warmed up. I’m not a big fan of black IPAs, but this was probably the best I’ve found.
