UPDATED: MAR 25, 2012 Nose is nice - smells like a flanders red - balsamic vinegar with a touch of bourbon. Hazy dark amber with white foam. Taste is pretty good - nice balance of tart and sweet vanilla. Subtle, balanced and tasty. Palate is medium bodied and softy carbed. Glad I got to try this.

Bottle provided by me, poured into my Portsmouth tulip. A hazy honey brown in color, half fingers worth of light yellow head. Nose isn’t that great, some lactic sourness, cherry, and slightly metallic. Flavor is an upgrade, nice cherry sourness and vinegar. The ending is a little off-putting flavor wise. Smooth, spritzy mouthfeel, long finish, good acidity. Decent Flanders, nothing special. Not sure if this is worth the price tag.

750 mL bottle graciously shared by PaulUnwin. Cheers, Paul! Pours a hazy red-brown with an off-white head. Nose is malt, some sugar, some vinegar, oak, cherry, and slight chocolate. Flavor is similarly deep: malt, chocolate, slight vanilla/ bourbon, candi sugar, and tart fruit. An interesting and varied blend of sweet and sour. Medium in body and very interesting overall.

Bottle in Hotel Room, Chicago - shared with Mette - Special thanks to Derek - drinking while getting ready for Alinea !!! Clear amber/brown - offwhite head. Nice vinegar aroma, roasted notes, caramel, fruity, mellow sourness, nice wooden notes, coconut notes, light lactic, nice refreshing.

Bottle shared by Seth. Clear brown pour with a fleeting off white head. Sour fruit aromas. Sweet with sour apple notes. Mild tartness and acidity. A very nice sour.

Batch 9-11. Poor is a hazy copper red with Thick sediment and small off white head. aroma is dominated by a musty funk which I hope was not planned. Taste is redeeming with a nicely balanced sweet/tart flavor with an oak and vanilla background, mildly puckering in the finish. Enjoyed this but hard to get over the musty aroma and chunks of sediment present.

Bottle shared amongst friends. This was definitely worth the trade I made for it. Not even in my fridge for more then 5 hrs before I decided to crack it open. I was happy that it wasn’t a sweet sour mess like Duchess, or too vinagary. Solid sour!

Pours deep clear red with a small medium brown head. Nose lends a mild balance of lactic and acetic acidity along with dark caramel malts, vanilla, almost some roasts, cinnamon, and some sweetness. The first taste drops in a good amount of lemon and acetic tartness but is quickly downplayed with dark vanilla and spicy caramel malts like a dessert. Carbonation is more in tune than their other sours and is creamy and medium heavy bodied. Given that this isn’t my favorite style of sour ale it is a little sweet for me. The spices and vanilla character is pleasant but still has a fair bit of tartness in there, just not puckering like some others. i suppose it has to be a little sweet with 10.5 ABV.

Bottle via the release. Pours a deep red/brown color with minimal head. Aroma is Christmas to a certain extent. All spice, cinnamon, anise and some dark fruit. Taste hits on all of these spices and more. Big mouth feel which is nice but not overly sour, could be more so. This one was very nice in a change of pace way for a sour tasting. Would love to open the remaining bottles over Christmas Eve.
