3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Block (850) - West Lafayette, Indiana, USA - OCT 4, 2011
A decent oktoberfest. Malty and sweet with just enough hops to balance. It’s a mediocre beer but can stand out because of the other very poor offerings readily available during this season.

Bottle - Clear light amber pour with a thin off-white head. Light grainy malt nose, with a light milkiness and just a touch of floral hops. Taste is smooth light nutty malt, fairly rich with a light snap on the end that’s half nutty and half hoppy. A bit of dark chocolate lingers on the long finish. Well-carbonated and fairly thin, though the carbonation fills the mouth and makes it feel heftier than it is. Not bad.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 HonkeyBra (2217) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - SEP 3, 2011
Bright orange pour with golden flashes. Aroma of graham crackers, apple juice, toffee malts, some crackers. Mild nuttiness. Flavor has a fruit juice and crackery malt thing going on. Mild sweetness, lots of toasty flavors, with a touch of bitterness in the finish. I’m impressed with the low alcohol. This is very flavorful for the low alcohol. Medium bodied, nice carbonation. Nice Oktoberfest.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Thorpe429 (3542) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - MAR 23, 2011
Reviewed from notes.
Pours a golden orange color with a bit of a white head and some mild lacing. Nose is a bit nutty and earthy with some bread and slight caramel in the background. The taste is slightly dry with some earth and a bit of light malt. Medium body with good carbonation. Nothing special, but a pretty decent brew.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 crossovert (2547) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 14, 2011
2010 edition.
It pours a medium gold with a foamy eggshell colored head.
The smell is mellow, not a lot of nuttiness, just a solid maltiness with a pinch of hops.
The flavor is decent, it has a sort of tartness to it that is unique. The hops seem to be done pretty well and the malt balance is pretty dead on.
Easy drinking Oktoberfest.

Bottle. Pours a very rich clear nice orange amber with a frothy dense white head. Aroma is fairly nice, steeped mash, German malt notes not super strong. Flavor is sweet caramel, weird bitterness, and a brett infection is starting to take hold, like a sticky doughy overly caramel burnt orval.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ughsmash (5631) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 1, 2011
Bottled. Poured clear, light-medium orange with a fluffy cap of whitish head.. looked good. The aroma picked up slightly-soured lighter fruit skins over a sweet caramel base.. touches of vanilla and earthy spicy, too.. not that enticing. The flavor found more of the fruit, still showing the tangy skins.. sweet caramel and bready malts at the core.. more tasty and well-balanced than the nose suggested. Light-bodied and unnecessarily tart on the palate, but the sweet malts and other components worked well.. perhaps a touch past its prime.

Bottle. Sweet toffee malt with hint of hops. Clear amber color with small head. Slightly sweet toffee malt and bitter vegetal flavor. Okay - not great but solid enough for the style.
