The persimmons were provided by Aaron Persinger, a local singer/songwriter who is currently the drummer for Rev. Peytonís Big Damn Band. (The Rev himself is a certified Persimmon lover Iíve been told, canít wait to get him a bottle). Being a classic Indiana fruit, we couldnít resist, maybe one day weíll find enough local mulberries and bring another (as far as we know) first-ever fruit lambic-style to the lineup.

Bottle @ Deans Sticky Bomb Shelter Tasting, thnx to the crew for sharing! Pours a hazy, headless beer. Aroma of tarty melon, white fruits, touches of oak and a massive tart base. Flavor is stringently tarty, loads of sour stuff going on. Never had individual persimmons before, but I reckon they have an influence in the tartness here. Hint of grainy and sweet malts in the very back. Sourness is strongly overpowering here, making this a great cleanser and very refreshing. Nice stuff.

Thx! to kermis. 750 ml. bottle sampled @ ďDeanís sticky Bomb ShelterĒ Tasting. GUSHER. Very hazy milky lemon appearance with no head. Nose is sour aspirin, sour puckering lactic, aspirin, sour orange,Ö Taste is hugely sour puckering lactic acid, sour lemonade bacteria, vinegar, citrus acid, very basic one note sourness, the sourness is almost comical, very much Vitamin C, aspirin & lemonade, no complexity. Puckering. Not getting the fruit really, I could get maybe orange but persimmon, not really. Body is puckering & lemonade. Fun on its own terms, easily least favorite of the ones tried so far, lacks fruit character (or at least the one that the bottle promises) & the sourness is almost comical if not entirely so. Fun enough if you like super sour USA sours.

Bottle shared. Pours very hazy pale yellow with a ring white head. Aroma of light barnyard funk, aspirin, heavy lactic and orange. Flavour is light sweet and heavy burning sour. Light medium bodied with light carbonation.

Shared at a tasting hosted by Steve Hackley on September 25. Thanks Steve! This was poured from a 750 mL bottle that I won in one of the lotteries earlier this year. The pour is a foggy golden yellow color with no head to be found, just some light white wispy bubbles and a little movement from carbonation. The aroma is great. Huge sour up front, but itís not acidic at first. Itís a fruit-induced sour. There is a big time funk going on on the back end that almost seems like itís sour oak. The barrel is definitely pretty prevalent in this one. The flavor starts out juicy and sour. Itís like a sour lemon warhead of sorts. The persimmon really comes through on the back end. The oak maintains throughout, but doesnít deter a lot. Itís surprisingly good. The mouth feel is crisp and tart with a resoundingly sour finish. The aftertaste lingers a bit, but itís relatively quick and out. Really good sour from Upland.

Sample at first sunday. High on the tart quotient. Reminds me of kiwi a bit with a little muted and more tropical fruit flavor thanks to the persimmon.

750 ml bottle, Batch 3.10, Bottled 2/25/14. Brought this to a pizza place that is BYOB. Pours a hazy yellowish color without much head or lace. Fruity aroma that gets fairly sour. Taste is puckeringly sour. Wow, didnít expect that much sourness here. Too much for me. Lacks balance, just a sour bomb. Vinegar fans will probably love it though.

750. Not sure the vintage but at least a couple years old. Pours a cloudy pale gold with no head or lace. Soft clear tree fruit nose. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Clear balanced tree fruit mid palate with nice dry edges and no bite. Dances. Beauty. Age has been kind.

Pour at the Great Taste of the Midwest. Hazy light yellow pour - spicy taste with a nice funk and light sourness. Interesting and fun.

Not what I was hoping... Too much warhead... No persimmon... Lactic bomb... Almost undrinkable
